Job Overview

The Sales Support Coordinator will ensure timely and efficient processing of customer inquiries related to orders, quotations, technical product support, product complaints, returns and customer specific issues for all Hubbell internal and external (assigned territory) customers. This person will be responsible to provide both primary and secondary support for various functional areas within the department including Technical Service, Customer Service, Quotations, and Value Add. In addition, the individual will be responsible for developing a working knowledge about the various aspects and secondary factors affecting customer service and the sales effort in order to effectively incorporate sales and cost reduction practices that will contribute towards continued division growth into daily routine. As a principal point of contact for our customer base the Account Manager is recognized as performing a vital function in the chain of customer satisfaction, sales support and service improvement.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop knowledge of the industry, competitive market and the sales process to work as a team with field sales to ensure optimum service to each account. Enhance the FSR's efforts by developing strong service ties with assigned customer base and providing feedback and follow-up on significant quotations, key contacts, sales leads, potential problems, trends, competition, policy and product updates.
  • Coordinate the information flow between customers/field sales and other departments to efficiently handle and respond to; customer orders, expedite requests/project order status reporting, product technical and application questions, quotations, return/credit requests, new Distributor applications and general inquiries. Maintain up-to-date centralized records of key contacts as well as any special terms and conditions for assigned accounts.
  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of all products and programs and how they relate to Industry standards in order to provide technical/product application assistance to our customer base (Distributor, CIs, End-Users). Includes acting as a back-up for Tech Support when required.
  • Cross-reference competitive bills of material for the purpose of converting RFQs and bids into sales opportunities.
  • Provide accurate product/application pricing by being technically adept at building quotations for specialty products in the configuration database.
  • Train on pricing and the Quotations process and be prepared to provide back-up support when required.
  • Assist the FSR with the preparation of the quote check list and follow-up on significant quotations for special projects.
  • Assist with the renewal decisions for cable quotes by providing ship and debit credit usage information.
  • Stage/Project Lock and monitor all material required for large, critical on-time delivery orders to assist Operations with material planning requirements and to ensure customer service satisfaction to promote ongoing and future sales.
  • Oversee the coordination of material requirements and shipments for large project orders. This includes monitoring inventory and initiating expedites with various suppliers through Operations and the creation/issuance of weekly status reports to field sales.
  • Enhance sales through continual cross and add-on selling of HPW product sets.
  • Continually utilize inventory to sell applications, i.e. recommend the substitution of something that we have in stock that is an acceptable replacement for an out-of- stock item. Recommend alternative items on quotes/inquiries/orders to meet competitive levels and avoid order cancellations.
  • Provide positive impact to product line margins through analysis and negotiation of customer returns (IM and standard) to exclude the return of obsolete material and to minimize the return of any excess material back into Hubbell stock.
  • Provide positive impact to profitability through analysis and negotiation of freight costs (with Distribution) prior to processing of special requests.
  • Document customer product complaints in the system and follow-up with the applicable departments (Product Management and QAME) to ensure timely resolution and customer response. Process Warranty Claims when required as a part of the complaint resolution.
  • Ensure the efficient processing of orders and minimize backorders through the daily/weekly creation and review of reporting on blocked orders, aged delivery notes, out-of-increment items, obsolete items and status 50 items.
  • Assist with SAP enterprise resource planning system testing as required to support IT and Corporate directed projects.
  • Assist all employees whenever necessary and possible. Assist in other functions, projects, etc. as required.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • The candidate should have a four-year degree in Business Administration or a related field OR 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical, organization and multi-tasking skills are a must.
  • Solid communication skills and an effortless finesse in handling delicate situations are required to support the various issues that could arise with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong working knowledge of windows 2000, word and excel is required.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work cross departmentally and partner with dynamic teams.
