The Kinesiology Department in the School of Education & Human Development (EHD) is seeking a Senior Unit Administrator to manage daily operations including academic administration, space management, human resources, and general office and academic operations. Additionally, this Senior Administrator will provide guidance and set policies and procedures for other staff who provide administrative supports to EHD departments, with an effort toward standardization, efficiency, improved service levels, and cross-departmental collaboration. The Senior Administrator will initially supervise one employee in carrying out the operations of the Kinesiology Department and its existing affiliated programs. This position reports to the Senior Associate Dean for Management and Planning, with secondary reporting to the chair of the Department of Kinesiology. The position's primary office will be in the Student Health and Wellness Building where the Department of Kinesiology is located. The Department of Kinesiology has 15 full-time faculty, 80 graduate students, and 300 undergraduate students and is a vibrant STEM-oriented department with several health science research laboratories. The Department is also home to the service-oriented Lifetime Physical Activity program and maintains several clinical education and research collaborations both on- and off-grounds. The department is considering launching two new high-profile programs both on Grounds and in Northern Virginia. The Senior Administrator will be expected to manage this complex effort, ensuring timely execution of project milestones and close collaboration with various offices at the school and University. Additional supervisory responsibilities may be expected during and after program launch. This position will provide guidance and coordination for other Unit Administrators across EHD. Initially, the position is roughly comprised of 40% KINE UA duties, 40% project management and administration, and 20% EHD administrative oversight. Job Duties
