We believe in nourishing the whole person, creating community through great food and programming, and doing what's right, every time. *We are Nourishing a Brighter Future.* Join FISD at The Vanguard School - Lake Wales, FL FISD is seeking a passionate and growth-minded Chef Manager to lead the food service program at The Vanguard School, a small, international boarding school in Lake Wales, FL, serving approximately 100 students and 40 faculty/staff, seven days a week. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for both the culinary experience and the overall food service operation. You'll be the driving force behind a high-quality dining program that supports student wellness, sustainability, and community. What You'll Do: Manage full culinary operations, including menu development, inventory, purchasing, and kitchen leadership Execute daily meal service for students, faculty, and staff in a boarding school environment Prepare and serve fresh, high-quality meals with a focus on local sourcing, sustainability, and nutritional balance Maintain P&L accountability, food safety standards (HACCP), and cost controls Lead and inspire a team to deliver excellent service and food presentation Participate in exposition cooking and hands-on culinary execution While school is in session, your focus will be on The Vanguard School's dining program During school breaks and summer months, you'll support nearby schools running summer programs or fill in at other FISD locations as needed All travel, hotel, meals, and rental car expenses are covered when working off-site in the local area What We're Looking For: At least 3 years of culinary management experience, ideally in education setting, contract food service, or hospitality Strong understanding of menu planning, inventory, cost control, and vendor relations Demonstrated leadership in team supervision and kitchen operations Knowledge of food trends, nutrition, safety, and catering Hands-on experience with HACCP procedures; ServSafe certification preferred A passion for local, seasonal ingredients and sustainable food practices Ability to travel to support other schools during the summer months Apply to Flik today!
