Lipscomb Academy is seeking a proven and enthusiastic leader to serve as the Assistant Director of the Solly Program. They will work alongside the Director of Academic Support and the Head of the Lower School to support identified students diagnosed with an intellectual or developmental disability. Typical Job Duties and Responsibilities: Work with the Director of Academic Support and Head of the Lower School in program development, implementation, and evaluation of a specialized program for students with intellectual or developmental disabilities that complies with all state and federal regulations. Provide daily oversight of the Solly program, establish objectives and priorities for the program, delegate responsibilities to staff, develop strategies to achieve objectives, evaluate programs, and propose needed adjustments. Serve on the admissions committee for Solly applicants Develop Individualized Learning Plans (ILP) with input from team members and participate in meetings. Provide direction and consultation to special needs teachers and assistants; consult with appropriate faculty and staff on individual cases. Provide specialized instruction to students both in small groups and one-on-one settings. Communicate with parents and other stakeholders (therapists, etc.) Supervise and conduct personnel administration duties for direct report subordinates, including hiring, evaluating, assigning special duties, monitoring attendance, and granting leave. Maintain standards, policies, and procedures; develop short- and long-range goals; monitor the progress of various services; make recommendations for changes. Work collaboratively with the collective Lower School faculty to provide assistance and professional development regarding the students in their classrooms and other school activities such as recess, chapel, special programs, and lunch. Other Responsibilities: Qualified candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills as well as prior experience teaching in a special needs classroom and in administrative leadership. Candidate will be of high Christian character, positive, and have the ability to communicate effectively with and relate to students, parents, teachers, and all Lipscomb Academy constituents. Candidate will have a tremendous work ethic and an unwavering desire to lead and grow the Lipscomb Academy Solly program. Candidate should possess or be willing and able to acquire knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to special education. Working with the Head of the Lower School, the Assistant Director will provide the vision for and monitor, manage, and supervise the special needs programs, personnel, and student services. The Assistant Director will be a member of the academic leadership team for the Lower School.
