Department Overview

The Environmental Management Team includes a staff of approximately 250+ environmental professionals. Our team is dedicated to providing integrated, company-wide environmental leadership, project support and compliance management services, as well as promoting environmental stewardship of PG&E's properties and associated natural resources.

Environmental Management Short Cycle and Vegetation Management Team provides safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy to our customers by helping business partners comply with environmental regulations while maintaining trusted relationships with regulatory and land management entities. Our internal business partners include Distribution Gas and Electric, Corporate Real Estate, and Electric Transmission short cycle work and Vegetation Management programs and projects.

Position Summary

The Supervisor for Environmental Management, Short Cycle & Vegetation Management, will provide direct supervision, staffing, training, coaching and mentoring to a team of Environmental (Land) Planners, Biologists and Environmental Field Specialists (EFS). This team provides environmental planning, permitting, compliance and overall regulatory support and coordination for Electric and Gas Short Cycle and Vegetation Management Projects. The Supervisor will also be involved in process improvement initiatives, and special assignments. Ensures development plans (technical, leadership, customer-focused) performance objectives are established for the team. Ensures and monitors the environmental planning, partnership, change management and program implementation responsibilities for key Functional Areas. Helps establish and maintain a system of proper data capture and entry into the environmental information system.

The location for the position is flexible and reports to the Senior Manager of Environmental Management - Short Cycle & Vegetation Management. A minimum of 25% travel throughout the PG&E Service Territory may be required.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $128,000

Bay Area Maximum: $218,000

California Minimum: $122,000

California Maximum: $207,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for assigned staff. Plans and manages the staff's professional development.
  • Manage staff workload and assignments.
  • Provide input into strategy planning for projects.
  • Provide and facilitate guidance and best practices that are relevant to Substation, Electric Transmission and IT activities.
  • Facilitate clear roles and responsibilities to meet compliance requirements
  • Ensures work is completed in a timely and professional manner, provides guidance and mentoring to the staff to help them be successful in completing their work.
  • Successfully implements organizational changes and new processes and procedures.
  • Works with management team to develop workload forecast and resource plans.
  • Continuously drive safety performance using training, tools, initiatives and other resources provided to improve safety. Use available communication tools and resources to inform and engage employees about the importance of safety at PG&E and employee accountability regarding safety. Embrace and model the PG&E Safety Pledge and ensure compliance with all company work procedures and safe work practices. Identify and mitigate unsafe work conditions.
  • Evaluates trends and identifies major risks and potential problems. Leads Root Cause Analyses for major compliance incidents and identifies corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences. Establishes processes to meet LOB and PG&E business objectives, goals and metrics.
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships with internal business partners through regular communication, participation in LOB process improvements and provides and receives regular feedback to ensure the process meet those business objectives, goals and metrics.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • BS or BA degree in an environmental discipline, sciences, engineering, business, resource management, or similar field, or equivalent experience
  • Possess a valid class C California Driver's License
  • 6 years of relevant work experience in the environmental field such as environmental program management or resource management

Desired

  • Leadership Experience
  • MBA or MS in environmental discipline, sciences, engineering or similar field
  • Understanding of California Public Utilities Commission's General Order 131 D.
