Position Summary: The Housekeeping Aide (HA) is responsible for a variety of cleaning duties in support of the Facilities Services department. The HA is responsible for cleaning resident apartments, activity areas, offices, and other areas of the Villa St. Francis facilities. The HA provides assistance with laundry. The HA uses his/her best skill in maintaining a facility that provides a safe and inviting home to residents. The HA works with other department members to coordinate all in-house cleaning and maintenance support services.

Position Reports to: Support Services Manager
Qualifications:


  • Graduate or high school/GED preferred
  • 1 - 2 years experience in housekeeping preferred, but not required
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions
  • Interest and ability to support geriatric residents
  • Ability to analyze an issue, identify options, and implement solutions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with people in and outside of Facilities Service department
  • Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and effectively interact with residents, their
  • family members, supervisors, and other staff members
  • Ability to respond positively to work direction and guidance from others
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision


Equipment Used:


  • Office equipment: personal computers, printers, phone systems, fax machine, photocopier
  • Facilities Services Equipment: Laundry and cleaning equipment


Physical and Mental Requirements: Must have ability to bend, reach, lift (mop buckets and trash weighing 10-40 lbs).and stand routinely throughout the shift. Must have the ability to clean under furniture and bathroom fixtures. Must have the ability to occasionally lift /position and transfer residents, if needed. Must have the ability to deal effectively with the stress of managing emergency/critical situations and multiple tasks, the ability to deal with residents, families and staff who may

be emotionally upset.

Environmental Conditions:
Performs duties with exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to care of ill residents, and occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior of residents and seasonal exposure to high humidity due to temperature control of the facility. Exposure to varying types of ware chemicals, cleaning agents and various types of areas that contain possible hazards such as slippery surfaces
