Department Profile The Early Academic Outreach Program at UCSB provides students, their families, and communities with the resources and services necessary to increase A-G eligibility rates, university and financial aid applications, and enrollment into post-secondary education. EAOP is seeking professionals who are committed to assisting high-achieving and high-potential, first-generation, and low-income students become academically prepared and have options to successfully matriculate into any of the systems of higher education in California including the University of California and California State University systems. EAOP achieves this through the collaborative efforts of College Site Coordinators and Academic Services Coordinators in providing college knowledge and academic enrichment services to 9th-12th grade students and intensive academic advising to enrolled EAOP students. Brief Summary of Job Duties Under the general direction of the EAOP Director, the Academic Services Coordinators (ASC) will be responsible for the research, development and effective delivery of comprehensive academic services and enrichment activities to EAOP partnership high schools throughout Kern, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties. The services include study skill workshops, testing strategies, study group formation, academic enrichment academies, and other support services for EAOP pre-college participants and events. Provides guidance and oversight to EAOP Outreach Interns in the coordination of campus tours and associated logistical needs. Coordinates the EAOP social media calendar and website updates. Implements EAOP's academic enrichment model that fosters increased college readiness, academic achievement, and competitive university eligibility for participating students. Works closely with EAOP College Site Coordinators to implement direct student services and also support EAOP partnership schools with parent services. This may include but is not limited to, assessing learning styles, creating a learning environment in the home, learning about the systems of higher education in California, and sharing resources on how to support academic achievement. Collects and enters academic outcome data, student performance measures, utilizes assessment measures, satisfaction surveys, event evaluations, and maintains pre and post-test intervention data for participants, events, and activities associated with EAOP. Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Experience required in coordination of small- and large-scale events. Knowledge and working experience in the areas of academic success skills including but not limited to time management, test-taking strategies, note-taking, material reading, learning styles, and creating a learning environment in the home. Experience in conducting classroom, or similar, presentations and utilization of effective classroom management techniques, interactive activities, and learning technology. Required Qualifications

Job Functions/Percentage of Time/Duties 50% Study Skills Curriculum Development/Implementation Research, design, develop and assist in the coordination and implementation of a series of academic success workshops. These include but are not limited to, study skills, learning styles, time management, goal setting, note-taking, education to career links, reading for comprehension, and expository writing skills for EAOP 7th -12th grade students at partnership schools. These can be presented before, during, or after school courses, Saturday academies, classroom workshops, webinars, or as inter-session and summer enrichment academies and programs. Design, implement and assist in the coordination of EAOP College Readiness Seminars (CRS) and other school site academic enrichment academies. Coordinate workshops and seminars that assist students in attaining maximum academic achievement in A-G courses. Research, design, and provide teachers with supplementary reference materials that will enhance and augment learning opportunities in the classroom that foster reinforcement of study skills acquired by students that have participated in EAOP academic preparation workshops. Research, design and implement personal insight question (PIQ) in-service workshops for counselors and teachers and hands-on workshops for seniors and juniors for the purpose of writing effective Personal Insight Question responses for University of California and Private College admission processes. Assist in the development and implementation of a parent-centered curriculum that provides effective strategies for parent's use in creating a learning environment at home in an effort in order to improve their student's reading, writing, time management, organizational, study skills, and academic achievement. Learn and understand district and school policies and procedures including academic placement procedures, accelerated learning options, and student academic performance outcomes for the purpose of designing more effective strategies for EAOP academic enrichment programs and services. 25% Coordinator of College Going Initiatives Assist in the coordination and implementation of large-scale events at EAOP partnership schools as well as at the UCSB campus that may take place during evening and weekend hours. The audience for these events is students and parents from EAOP partnership schools. In-service events are open to school site staff across EAOP service areas. Work with EAOP College Site Coordinators to identify and determine academic assistance needs of EAOP students and provide academic support services based on individual and collective assessments. Keep current with the educational research and literature pertaining to academic preparation skills, learning and retention strategies, and student achievement. Actively reinforce the importance of successful completion of A-G courses and matriculation into a system of higher education. Liaison with middle and high school personnel as well as inter-segmental pre-college program staff in the promotion and provision of EAOP academic, enrichment, and student support services. Active participation in EAOP Department meetings, annual strategic planning, Academic Service Unit meetings, immediate supervisor one-on-one meetings, on-campus and community-based organizations, as well as select campus or school-site committees as needed. ASC will support the Assistant Director of Events, Communications, and Learning Services with the management of EAOP's social media presence, annual planning calendar, and website updates. 15% Weekly Coordinator of EAOP Tours and Volunteers Provide coordination, leadership, and oversight of quality control mechanisms that will ensure high-quality campus tour experiences for visiting students, parents, and associated colleagues. Serve as liaison for EAOP service high schools and their feeders to facilitate tour reservations, agenda formation, lab visits, food and refreshments, presentations by students, staff, and faculty partners. Assist in the development and implementation of EAOP intern/tour guide orientation and training, recruitment for volunteer participation, designing tour routes and experiences, monitoring of tour request forms, and confirmation process and procedures. Support and coordinate tour-related data collection for assessment and evaluation of tour experiences, participants and schools served, satisfaction levels, revenues generated, and continual improvement opportunities. 10% Program Analysis and Evaluation ASC will assist in the maintenance and collection of academic enrichment data related to EAOP participants, students in general, and parents including the collection and maintenance of school-site and student-based performance data for use in the development and evaluation of academic enrichment program services, activities, and events. ASC is responsible for weekly documentation of services provided across all partnership and non-partnership schools, participating student information, and other information necessary for stakeholder and annual reporting. Research, design, collect, and assess student and parent centered academic services, events, and activities as well as evaluation of service satisfaction levels for stakeholders such as teachers, counselors, and administrators. Prepare and submit comprehensive mid-year and annual written reports documenting service outcomes, evaluation measures, and recommendations that focus on how to improve the quality of EAOP services. Researches data driven outcome models to assist in the development of strategies that focus on continual improvement of study skill workshops and student academic success.
