About the Department:

In collaboration with the George Mason University community, and as a part of the Office of the Provost, the Division for Enrollment Management optimizes student recruitment and retention by developing and implementing strategic enrollment plans, overseeing the admissions process, providing financial aid services, and managing the Mason Student Services Center-a centralized student services resource. The Division's activities support the achievement of institutional enrollment goals by placing the student (and family) at the center of our work, supporting a culture of transparency, and leveraging data to inform decision-making.

The Office of Admissions facilitates the recruitment and enrollment of freshmen, transfer, graduate, and non-degree students in alignment with the university's strategic plan, ensuring a successful student body that contributes to the institution's excellence and global impact.

About the Position:

The Data and Applications Specialist executes and supports established processes within Admissions back-office operations and ensures accuracy and efficiency across various applications systems. Maintains and adheres to predefined workflows and protocols to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities:



  • Maintains data import and export layouts and processes;
  • Monitors system logs to ensure data updates, imports, and exports perform as expected;
  • Performs testing of upgrades/patches that will be applied to the various applications and systems;
  • Translates customers' requests into customer relationship management (CRM) reports using knowledge of relational objects in CRM;
  • Works with vendors to understand and maintain safe data transfers, as directed;
  • Assists with website development for events and conferences, and any other needs of the department;
  • Creates, edits, and maintains all forms for events and conferences;
  • Provides on-call support during events and conferences to troubleshoot any technical needs;
  • Produces and maintains documentation for the configuration of the various applications and systems used by Admissions;
  • Assists with ITS integrations;
  • Performs system testing;
  • Assists with tasks and projects, as requested; and
  • Performs other job-related duties, as assigned.


Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Experience preparing system documentation for a user audience;
  • Experience with translating user requests into their desired outcomes and suggesting potential alternatives that meet their needs;
  • Experience managing data integrations and file transfers;
  • Experience participating in multiple projects concurrently;
  • Demonstrated organization, time management, and problem-solving skills;
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Skill in effective written and verbal communication;
  • Demonstrated customer service skills in small and large group interactions;
  • Ability to perform work with substantial attention to detail;
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully in a team environment; and
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or an equivalent level of experience in information technology;
  • Experience supporting database applications and writing SQL queries either by hand or using a third-party tool, such as Toad;
  • Experience with web page coding (i.e., Active Server Page or Java), or computer programming (i.e., Net, C#, or VB Scripting);
  • Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software;
  • Experience with FormAssembly;
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM;
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows-based system security, networking, scripting, system engineering, and systems integration;
  • Bilingual; and
  • Microsoft Certification.
