Summary:



The Principal, Data Strategy, will re-engineer data collection, management, and analysis, for use of data as a strategic asset for Visionworks in its' pursuit of business goals. He/she will build and execute a Data Strategy roadmap that enhances Visionworks' data governance, data architecture, data management, data analytics, and data culture. The role will promote a data driven mindset across the organization that establishes a competitive data strategy advantage in the optical industry.



Pay and Pay Class:




Pay Class: Full Time and Remote

Pay: $110,541.41 - $147,387.48




Essential Responsibilities:




  1. Develop the data governance & data management strategy that includes oversight of strategic data initiatives that drive improvements in data quality & management, ensuring those improvements are sustained over time.
  2. Collaborate with technical IT, BI, Analytics, and Data Science team members and leaders, and non-technical end user leaders as needed to align data initiatives with business objectives, ensuring that data supports and accelerates strategic goals.
  3. Establish a single source of data truth for all internal and external team members' use of data.
  4. Develop and manage data catalogs that provide clear and accessible views of data assets across Visionworks.
  5. Communicate master data management architecture and data management practices to technical and non-technical stakeholders through meetings, presentations, training, and other appropriate means.
  6. Define and enforce a data policy and best practice framework that enables timely access to permissible data for users.
  7. Design a metadata management framework to ensure data tagging and classification across Visionworks' data management platform.
  8. Develop master data management key performance indicators to measure data quality, timely accessibility, and data policy compliance.
  9. Align Data Strategy best practices to support Data Science MLOps and MLDev quantitative modeling and partner with the Senior Principal, Data Science to develop, sustain, and support quantitative modeling redundancies.
  10. Proactively monitor data strategy and data architecture advancements seeking opportunities to enhance Visionworks' master data management platform.



Education:




  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Management, Mathematics, Economics, or related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred, not required.



Experience & Background:




  • 6+ years relevant experience required
  • Advanced analytical skills managing data.
  • Proficiency in data management, cataloging and data lineage tracking.
  • Technical knowledge of statistical packages (Python, R), databases (SQL) financial modeling (Excel) preferred.



Language Skills:




  • Strong Communication Skills: ability to clearly convey very complex ideas in simple easy to understand ways - both in writing and verbally
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Associates of the organization



Mathematical Skills:




  • Advanced to expert level understanding in all of the following: Statistics, Machine Learning, Econometrics, and Deep Learning.




Reasoning Ability:




  • Best in class analytical and critical thinking skills


  • Ability to think logically
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness
