Job Description

Weekday/Day Shift 7a to 5p - AS NEEDED

The Ancillary Access Representative (AAR) is a fully cross-functional level and role and performs all Patient Access functions. Performs all outpatient and inpatient registration functions. Ensures that patients meet financial requirements. Provides general information to hospital users, patients and families. Communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service. Provides excellent patient focused customer service. Assists with scheduling and activates orders as applicable.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous experience as a Patient Access Representative or Patient Access Scheduling Representative.

  • Clear and concise communication skills required in order to effectively interview patients/families and to exchange information with hospital staff members, physicians, and third party payors.

  • Concise written communication and keyboarding skills required.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information, business account information, financial and legal documents.

  • Ability to respond to sensitive inquiries from regulatory agencies, hospital staff, members of the community or sensitive inquiries/complaints from guests.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to deal with abstract concepts and interpret verbal, nonverbal, and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years' experience with patient contact

  • Basic Medical terminology knowledge.

  • Medical insurance verification and authorization experience.

  • Ability to speak Spanish.
