Description Job Description: Choisys Technology is seeking a Network Technician to provide comprehensive network and VIP desktop support to a Department of Defense (DoD) customer in San Diego, CA. The Network Technician will play a pivotal role in maintaining, enhancing, and securing the network infrastructure while ensuring compliance with established standards and guidelines. ***NOTE: this position will be a 6 month contract expected to end Oct 31st 2025, there is the possibility for extension based on customer needs, but not guaranteed. At the end of the 6 month contract we are able to offer an additional $10,000 completion bonus Responsibilities:
- Provide installation and desktop support (Tiers 1 & 2) to end-users for printers, personal computers, applications, and hardware.
- Maintain and optimize network performance, security, and infrastructure based on DISA, Military Health System (MHS), Army, Navy, Air Force, and Defense Health Agency (DHA) initiatives and standards.
- Collaborate with a network design engineering team to review and analyze network infrastructure surveys, WLAN heat maps, floor plans, cable placement, and other relevant data for customer-directed requirements.
- Install, configure, test, and manage networking equipment such as VOIP phones, routers, switches, wireless access points, controllers, and terminal servers.
- Manage Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), troubleshoot wiring and cable issues, and ensure network connectivity.
- Operate and maintain Network Management Systems (NMS) and Network Operating Systems (NOS) for effective network operation.
- Offer technical support, addressing user concerns, documenting and tracking issues for prompt resolution.
- Contribute to achieving ATO (Authority to Operate) status for designated systems by providing subject matter expertise in network-related cybersecurity initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with MTF (Medical Treatment Facility) cyber security program, data security policies, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements, following DHA directives and Risk Management Framework (RMF) guidelines.
- Implement changes, improvements, and authenticator management for unclassified systems.
- Address protection requirements, incident reporting, remote access protocols, and system management across all relevant systems.
- Assist in DHA Infrastructure deployments, hardware refresh initiatives, and laptop/PC imaging.
- Document LAN to WAN connectivity operations, collaborate with network services to restore services, and identify core problems.
- Collaborate with MEDCOI personnel for AD (Active Directory) and OU (Organizational Unit) management.
Requirements Required Qualifications:
- Security+CE certification (must be up to date)
- Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher
- 4 years of experience with DoD Networks, preferably in Navy medical or DHA environments, covering desktop troubleshooting, cloning/rebuilding PCs, switches/routers installation, operations, and maintenance.
Desired:
- CCNA, Net+CE, or other network certification
- Solid understanding of ATO (Authority to Operate) and STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides).Strong interpersonal skills for effective customer support and relationship building.
- Proven experience in handling a wide range of IT tasks in a resource-limited environment.
- Experience in collaborating with MEDCOI personnel and utilizing CISCO skills for network management.
