Job Summary: The Food and Beverage Racing and Event Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring guests receive a premier experience during Live Racing and Events at Canterbury Park. Will assist in the leadership of the food and beverage operations focusing on concessions and bars and provide essential day-to-day oversight of team members and floor operations in the food and beverage department. Supports the Company's mission by providing fun and games like no place else. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads by example maintaining a high degree of hospitality, and a positive, professional demeanor, at all times.
- Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and provides suggestions for growth to senior management.
- Responsible for assisting F&B Training and Communications Manager with the hiring, training and coaching of hourly team members.
- Responsible for preparing and managing team members schedules for Concessions and Bars.
- Responsible for ongoing innovation and enhancements to the Concessions and Bar Operations.
- Works closely with Purchasing and Commissary to support and facilitate effective business practices
- Works closely with all departments to support company initiatives and partnerships
- Execute shift operations during Live Racing and Events which includes pre-shift meetings, front line support, cash drop management, team member assigning and cutting, post shift revues, and daily follow up.
- Responsible for providing ongoing feedback and performance management, and accountability of all team members in your assigned area.
- Meets with Sr. Manager of Food and Beverage weekly.
- Active within Food and Beverage leadership team during meetings and development sessions.
- Responsible for working weekly Manager On Duty shifts as assigned.
- Will work closely with and assist Culinary as well as Catering teams as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervision:
- All concessions and bars team members, including the assistant manager and supervisor staff assigned to Live Events and racing Operations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED, and 3 years of previous Manager experience or 6 years or more of progressive supervisor experience in the Hospitality industry or related field; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been achieved.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Must be able to interact with guests, coworkers, and management in a professional and courteous manner.
- Must be a team player willing to work with all departments.
- Must be able to make informed decisions, remain calm in stressful situations, and focus on multiple tasks.
- Must be able to pass Canterbury Park's pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
- Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification, Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality or related field is desirable.
- Prior experience operating and executing full service catered events such as weddings, galas, or large meetings.
- Prior knowledge of POS systems and must demonstrate the ability to perform programming needs and also possess troubleshooting techniques
- Prior knowledge of online reservation system
- Serve Safe Certified (Managers Certification) & Tips Certified.
