Overview (Scope of Role)

Reporting to the Manager, SEC Reporting, Technical Accounting & Policies, the Financial Analyst, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting position will have key role in the Company's Financial Reporting function, including: preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement filings as well as other SEC filings (quarterly earnings release, various registration statements, etc); significant role in global monthly close process and management reporting; frequent involvement in technical accounting issues; support of various annual accounting and reporting considerations (e.g., segmentation); and key interaction with business and functional leadership through a variety of complex and confidential matters.

This position will also include involvement and responsibility for certain technical accounting assessments within the Corporate Accounting function, assistance with implementation of new accounting standards and policies. This role will also act in a key support role for Controllers team on wide variety of strategic projects, including: mergers, acquisitions, & divestitures; integration, restructuring events, and other financial reporting projects.



Responsibilities

Financial Reporting (internal and external):

    Key member of the Financial Reporting function, including preparation of the Company's quarterly (Form 10-Q) and annual (Form 10-K) financial statements, including review of XBRL, and other financial reports, such as quarterly earnings releases, proxy filings, registration statements, etc;
  • Developing and maintaining support for all financial statement disclosures;
  • Preparation of certain analyses and reconciliations on a monthly and quarterly basis to substantiate the Company's books and records are complete and accurate
  • Disclosure research for new or changing requirements or business transactions, peer company analysis, as well as for the application and disclosure of new accounting or SEC standards. Properly vetting those considerations with Controllers leadership and external auditors and ensuring cross-functional alignment around critical disclosure changes.
  • Support the Company's Sustainability function, especially in the area of ESG and Sustainability reporting, monitoring and adopting new SEC disclosure requirements in this area, and liaise with Investor Relations and Sustainability functions to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Assistance in the management and administration of reporting calendars, including cross functional coordination of key deliverables;
  • Preparation of monthly financial reporting package for internal management reporting; and
  • Assistance with the preparation of monthly/quarterly consolidated cash flow statements.

Corporate & Technical Accounting:

  • Preparation of technical accounting issues & analyses, including performance of underlying accounting research, documentation of conclusions via whitepaper, determination of required journal entries, and coordination with Global Controllers team to ensure proper posting
  • Assistance with the Company's global annual pension valuation process, including servings as a main point of contact for the regional controllers' teams and reviewing the underlying assumptions;
  • Serving as an administrator for the Company's lease accounting tool
  • Assistance with the Company's U.S. GAAP worldwide conformance and updating of policies and implementation of new accounting standards, when applicable.
  • This role would provide key support of complex and technical accounting considerations and evaluations, and completion of ongoing assessments, reviews, journal entries, etc;
  • Preparation of whitepapers and the communication of journal entries needed to local controllers for any non-recurring or unusual events that occur throughout the year


Qualifications

  • 1-3+ years public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or corporate accounting experience working with multi-national public companies
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - preferred
  • SEC / public reporting and general financial statement review experience (i.e., 10-Qs, 10-Ks, etc.)
  • Strong U.S. GAAP experience (e.g., pension, lease, and revenue accounting, hedging and derivatives, restructuring, foreign currency, business combinations, asset impairment, financing transactions, etc)
  • SOX controls experience and understanding
  • Chemicals/Manufacturing industry experience a plus
  • Experience with SAP ECC and/or S/4 Hana
  • Proficiency using SAP ECC and/or S/4 Hana a plus
  • Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills
  • Ability to work with and lead people across functions and geographies
  • Proactive, problem solving nature and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting set goals and deadlines
  • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Read, write and speak English language
