About the Department |
The primary function of the Undergraduate Admissions office is to identify, attract, and enroll first year and transfer students with outstanding academic ability and potential. The department's efforts are commensurate with NC State University's annual and long-term enrollment goals for the University. |
Essential Job Duties |
The Admissions Specialist plays a key role in evaluating and processing applications and academic records for first-year, transfer and international students. In this role, you will ensure compliance with institutional policies while supporting the university's admissions process.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process applications, transcripts, test scores and other student records.
- Review and Process transfer credit according to established policies .
- Interpret and enforce institutional policies, exercising independent judgment in resource allocation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and take appropriate action on application files.
- Contribute to a seamless and customer-focused admissions experience for prospective students.

Other Responsibilities |
In addition to the core responsibilities, you will get the opportunity to take on additional duties, for example you will represent the Office of Undergraduate Admissions by providing occasional front desk coverage and supporting in-person events. Some other additional opportunities will help to build on your skills, explore new areas, and gain a deeper understanding of the department's operations. |
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
Other Required Qualifications |
- Demonstrated to have interpersonal skills and interest working on a team.
- Proven organization and time management skills to ensure meeting deadlines.
- Knowledgeable in the use of computerized management information systems.
- Demonstrated ability to make accurate and consistent interpretations of a broad variety of academic and/or administrative policies and procedures.
- Proven ability to exercise good judgment and discretion particularly in matters relative to sensitive or confidential student records, personnel or organizational matters.
