Job Summary

The Supervisor of the Home Medical Equipment (HME) location or locations will be responsible for all daily functions within that HME location(s), to include Supervision of staff, accurate and timely delivery of services and Home Medical Equipment. Will continuously research changes in CMS and private insurance guidelines to assure insurance eligibility and correct coding before dispensing of medical equipment to receive highest reimbursement available for that equipment. Responsible for training staff to insure safety and dispensing of the proper equipment. Will schedule all employees to provide adequate coverage during business hours and on-call after hours. Will be responsible for assigned location(s) meeting all standards as directed by the HME Accrediting Body. Will be responsible for completing all subordinate staff evaluations in a timely manner. Works closely with Manager to meet budget, address variance issues and identify solutions. Works with Manager to cut costs, develop new product lines and implement new services. Will meet with Physicians, Nurses, PT/OT's, discharge planners, and other medical professionals to assure customer needs are being met and address new opportunities with Manager, to increase growth of MHME. Will address patient complaints and resolve problems, involving Manager when applicable. Assists Manager with marketing and PI projects. May take charge roll in Managers absence.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Anticipates and helps to facilitate process improvements.
  • Assists staff in developing skills to improve the level of competency within the department.
  • AssistsHME leadershipwith hiring, firing, discipline and counseling of subordinates.
  • Assists in review of Departmental Goals on a yearly and as needed basis to enable the Department to function in accordance with high standards. Assists in the maintenance of the Departmental Policy and Procedure manuals.
  • Assists with the management of the department and directly manages departmental personnel. Creates an effective learning environment by promoting a positive and professional work place.
  • Coordinates and implements in-services of new equipment and products when necessary.
  • Oversees the departmental orientation and training of new personnel and is responsible for maintaining documentation.
  • Provides support to members of the management team regarding development and implementation of strategic planning and long- and short-term goals.
  • Responsible for the day to day leadership of the department. Promotes professional atmosphere where people feel valued, respected and energized.
  • Responsible for training and education of subordinate staff to continue to improve customer satisfaction and service.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Experience - 1+ years Supervisor and 1+ years Customer Service

Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General Studies

Preferred:
Experience - 1+ years of Home Medical Equipment Experience
Education - Bachelors degree in Related Field

Physical Requirements:
Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
