Job Description:

Our client is seeking and motivated Automation Engineer to join a dynamic and growing team. This is an exciting hands-on technical role that offers the opportunity to work on innovative automation solutions that will drive efficiency and effectiveness within an organization's infrastructure and systems. As a key player in the team, you will help identify, develop, and integrate automation opportunities that streamline processes and improve service delivery for customers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Design, develop, and deploy a scalable automation platform and library of automation scripts to optimize the configuration, operation, monitoring, and reporting of network infrastructure and systems.
  • Work closely with internal teams and customers to gather input and identify automation opportunities that will enhance operational efficiency.
  • Document monitoring, reporting requirements, and automation scripts to ensure clarity and maintainability for future use.
  • Prioritize automation tasks based on Return on Investment (ROI) and document progress for stakeholders.
  • Actively communicate and socialize the design, framework, planning, and progress of automation efforts to affected teams and leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (4 additional years of relevant work experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in automation, web development, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in networking or systems administration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to both technical teams and leadership.
  • Proven hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying automation infrastructure and managing databases as a single source of truth.
  • Extensive experience in developing and writing automation scripts for configuration, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Strong experience in Python, Perl, Shell, and SQL scripting for automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks for building efficient, scalable systems.
  • Proficiency with REST APIs, XML, and/or NETCONF for system integrations and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Knowledge of network automation tools such as Netmiko, Napalm, or Nornir.
  • Familiarity with tools like Netbox or Nautobot to manage data center resources effectively.
  • Exceptional project planning and implementation skills with a focus on high-visibility solutions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
  • Certification in automation-related technologies is preferred.
  • Experience working with DevOps methodologies and practices is a plus.
