HIRING RANGE: $22.04 - $23.36 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY Provides tutoring services to students in accordance with departmental regulations. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assist current and prospective students with selecting an appropriate math course. 2. Mitigate placement issues, and ensure all departmental requirements are fulfilled before students register 3. Develop and maintain a relationship with other departments in regard to prerequisite math coursework requirements. 4. Work with the English Placement Specialist on special projects or collaborative opportunities. 5. Evaluate transcripts and placement test results to determine placement. 6. Develop and maintain relationship with senior colleges and universities regarding transferability of JJC math coursework. 7. Develop and adjust documentation and processes related to placing and enrolling students, including credit for prior learning and course-specific placement exams administered by faculty. 8. Collect and analyze data, and produce various databases and reports on student placement, dual credit, and related for faculty and administration. 9. Serve as department liaison to academic and non-academic departments to answer relevant math placement questions. 10. Serve as math department representative to College Readiness Committee and serve on and placement-related sub-committees. 11. Process Math Authorization Requests (Credit in Escrow). 12. Assist with the coordination of math proficiency exams. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor's degree with in-depth knowledge of mathematics curriculum and sequencing, associate degree requirements, and transcript/course evaluation. 2. Excellent customer service skills. 3. Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population. 4. Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking. 5. Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and impartiality. 6. Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Access. 7. The ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence. 8. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Major in Mathematics . 2. Teaching, or tutoring experience at the college level. 3. Knowledge of IAI (Illinois Articulation Initiative 4. Familiarity with Datatel/Colleague/Saas system. 5. Familiarity with iCampus. 6. Familiarity with ALEKS, ACCUPLACER, MyLab, and other delivery tools. 7. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 8. Demonstrated multicultural competence. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Normal office physical demands. 2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events. WORKING CONDITIONS 1.
