Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vice Provost of Institutional Research and Analysis, the Director of Evaluation and Survey Research will:

  • Support the Office of Institutional Research and Analysis (IR&A) core activities of collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting information on faculty, students, and staff to promote data-driven decision-making
  • Lead dashboard development in support of program evaluation and survey analysis
  • Work collaboratively across the university to ensure Loyola has implemented systematic university assessment and program evaluation processes


Specifically, this position will:
Evaluation:

  • Lead specified institutional studies with focus on program improvement, capacity building, and continuous improvement
  • *Support the identification, planning, and start-up of future formative continuous improvement studies
  • Support the use of findings in visualizations, decision making processes, training, and communication for Academic Program Review, annual assessment and program evaluation
  • Partner with other university divisions as they coordinate, build, then implement continuous improvement processes using assessment and evaluation data
  • Partner with other university divisions as they prioritize and build sustainable assessment systems for documenting their essential activities, programs, services, and practices
  • Facilitate and teach academic leaders how to define and detail the major objectives of their key activities
  • Enhance communication within team members and stakeholders
  • Prioritize key metrics for ongoing assessment of activities and outcomes
  • Design evaluation plans and determine questions to address
  • Serve as a critical friend supporting specific program evaluations
  • Other duties as assigned

Survey Research

  • Coordinate institutional surveys across campus
  • Identify valid and reliable surveys that can be administered so that LUC can gather much-needed information to inform improvements
  • Plan for the administration of a multitude of institutional surveys that ensures proper capacity for administration, analysis, and thoughtful use of data
  • Administer institutional surveys, analyze the data and prepare reports for multiple constituents' decision-making purposes
  • Ensure all aspects of data governance and human subject protections are in place for such surveys
  • Collaboratively create data literacy programming for the optimal use of surveys
  • Provide peer benchmark reports for surveys that are or can be benchmarked
  • Serves on various University and Academic Affairs Committees and Working Groups, as appropriate and relevant to this position
  • Supervise two staff and/or graduate student
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred. At least five years of progressive related experience.
Qualifications
Synthesize and present complex data in a clear, actionable format to drive strategic decision-making

  • Skills in research design, survey research design, academic program review, assessment of student learning, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and effective report writing
  • Ability to lead collaborative teams of peers and to form a collegial partnership with various units in implementing creative and challenging work
  • Knowledge of the cultures and structures comprising higher education and its context with commitment to foster inclusive excellence
  • Evidence of Writing and Oral Communication Skills
  • Scholarly Written Reports Demonstrating Analytic and Communication Skills
  • Presentation Experience to Diverse Audiences using Visualization Tools
  • Experience in developing dashboards using Data Visualization Tool such as Power BI or Tableau

  • SPSS, SAS or other tools for statistical analysis and data management
  • Qualtrics

Certificates/Credentials/Licenses

  • Earned Master's in Higher Education, Education Research, Psychology or related field, PhD preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in evaluation, survey research, and institutional research in higher education

Computer Skills
Proficiency in computer applications (e.g., Excel, SPSS) to perform duties related to the function of the office (e.g., create tables, graphics; create online surveys and report management systems; run data analysis; prepare reports)

  • Use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Use of online working tools (ie., zoom, OneDrive, Secure Transfer)

  • SPSS, STATA, R, and/or SAS for data analysis
  • Helps to have advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Qualtrics
