Position Title: Paralegal Position Location: 4 Irving Place New York, NY 10003 Remote, Hybrid, In Office: Onsite Days of the week: M-F Working Hours: 40 hours per week OT?: No Travel?: No Intended length of assignment: 6-months to start with potential for extensions Reason for open position: backfill for REQ - 24-00973 Rate Details: $35/hr Potential for Contract Extension or FTE: Contract only Industry Background: Law firm experience, defense experience, personal injury and medical experience Team Dynamic: 7 team members Roles and responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in the preparation of pending litigation actions; prepare and draft pleadings and responses to discovery demands served on or by the Company.
- Handle extensive document production and coordinate the preparation of information in an efficient and timely manner.
- Maintain case files.
- Coordinate with and advise management personnel providing documents in response to discovery requests.
- Analyze documents and catalog exhibits.
- Perform legal research and cite check briefs.
- Prepare all required legal documents.
- Monitor cases and handle other tasks related to litigation support.
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
- Initiate / maintain legal holds (via software) Knowledge of court deadlines, review of CPLR and other court/procedural rules related to deadlines and submission requirements, and calendaring deadlines
- Maintain electronic document repositories and document review platforms/software
- Handle e-filing of documents on PACER and NYSEF
Must have technical or professional skills:
- Experience in processing authorizations for medical records, insurance records, and workers comp
- Draft letters/legal documents
- Maintaining case files
- Personal injury matters, motor vehicle accidents, litigation experience
- File review for medical records
Education or certification requirements: - Bachelors Degree Required with 2 years of experience Interview Process (1 step or 2 step interview, who is involved): 1 step, MS Teams on camera (Panel Interview)
