Location: This position is onsite at One Energy Plaza (OEP) located in Jackson, MI. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).


General Summary of Job Responsibilities

The Manager of IT manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of IT operations. Responsibilities for organization-wide systems and information implementation, maintenance and performance. Leading the day-to-day services within End User Computing. Accountable for the complete lifecycle and support of End User Devices from order to decommission. Manages employees, contractors, and vendors who provide operational support to business partners for first and second level incident management, asset refresh, knowledge management, ad hoc projects and order fulfillment including overseeing financial budgets for each area. Responsibility for ensuring key human resource functions are conducted, including interviewing, selection/hiring, conducting performance assessments, and more. This role will support the IT Customer Product Family and will manage resources who support the Microsoft Dynamics CRM application (COMET) and Microsoft Dynamics portal application (NUCLEUS) whose primary users reside within the Customer Experience organization at Consumers Energy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a 7-12 person CRM team: offshore developers, onshore developers, and internal software engineers
  • Determine appropriate Dynamics CRM technical solutions for various business requirements
  • Review all user story requirements and modify the technical approach when necessary
  • Lead joint application design sessions with end users and developers as needed
  • Provide architectural guidance and direction for the application layer with back-end services
  • Assess internal and vendor solutions and develop strategies for IT products and services
  • Understand key digital assets and how these technologies are influencing business decisions and transforming how the company works
  • Coach others on the benefits and risks associated with technology
  • Provide direction for IT coworkers
  • Measure progress on quality of delivery and/or operations
  • Use data to drive decision making. Apply problem-solving and continuous improvement practices
  • Understand and manage IT budgets. Identify and implement waste elimination and cost optimization ideas. Minimize operational costs while maintaining quality service
  • Contribute to IT initiatives including one or more of the following:

    • Design and deploy new IT systems or adds functionality to existing systems;
    • Operate and maintain IT systems;
    • Deliver IT services


  • Partner with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field with at least 4years of experience leading people, projects, and/or cross-functional teams or initiatives in a technical environment; Experience designing, deploying, operating and/or maintaining IT systems that have delivered measurable business benefits OR experience designing, delivering and enhancing IT services that support the delivery of IT systems

    • (OR)Associate's degree in IT or related field with at least 6years of experience leading people, projects, and/or cross-functional teams or initiatives in a technical environment; Experience designing, deploying, operating and/or maintaining IT systems that have delivered measurable business benefits OR experience designing, delivering and enhancing IT services that support the delivery of IT systems
    • (OR)High school diploma/GED with at least 8 years of experience leading people, projects, and/or cross-functional teams or initiatives in a technical environment; Experience designing, deploying, operating and/or maintaining IT systems that have delivered measurable business benefits OR experience designing, delivering and enhancing IT services that support the delivery of IT systems
