The role of the Global Demand Planner is an analytical role, similar to that of a Financial Analyst, that focuses on the Sales & Operations planning within the Supply Chain Department. It is responsible for the data analysis as part of the delivery of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. The Global Demand Planner will lead supply chain planning efforts including building tools and processes that support key objectives for unit and revenue forecasting, identifying sales trends, inventory modeling as well as demand, supply and capacity planning. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with an interest in Analytics with a background in either Supply Chain or Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales data and trends to develop a statistical forecast for the Demand Plan review
    • Evaluate forecast to actuals and develops the talking points with the Demand Team
    • Evaluate Point of Sale (POS) data and customer data to determine the impact to New Era's plans
  • Maintain reporting to support the various functions of the Sales & Operations Planning process
  • Evaluate the Sales & Operations Planning forecast to the budget in terms of units and revenue, cost of goods, open to buy dollars and inventory metrics
  • Develop and analyze New Era's Ecom S&OP demand plan, and lead an Ecom Demand Session on a bi-monthly basis
  • Develop and analyze New Era's Key Account demand plan while working cross functionally with New Era's Key Account Sales Representatives, and lead external Demand Session with Key Account on a quarterly basis
  • Create the S&OP minutes, communicating key conclusions to stakeholders and perform follow up of actions
  • Develop and track New Era's inventory plan, including reporting out information for the Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Accumulate purchasing data including purchase receipts, the open POs and purchase requisitions. Work with finance and communicates future spend forecasts
  • Develop and manage Global Production/Capacity Plans for all headwear and apparel vendors
  • Develop and track the overall Distribution plan, including reporting out information for the Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Develop advanced analytical tools and reporting to support the entire S&OP process
  • Identify opportunity areas including slow moving and obsolete materials, and develop and implement action plans for inventory optimization
  • Help facilitate cross-functional communication between the Demand Teams and Supply Chain in support of major S&OP initiatives, new product launches, line extensions, promotions, discontinuations, productivity projects, decision-making modeling of process flow, inventory levels, cost of manufacturing, distribution, transportation, etc
  • Keeps all sensitive matters confidential

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Detail oriented; accomplishes tasks by considering all areas involved showing concern for all processes and tasks, no matter how small
  • Sound interpersonal, mathematical and computer skills
  • Strong knowledge of Capacity Management techniques and Basic predictive modeling in Excel
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools, such as Excel, Tableau, or Power BI, and experience working with large datasets
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various levels of staff and outside customers/suppliers
  • Understand goals and objectives established by the company and work towards satisfying them
  • Enthusiastic positive person who embraces and facilitates change with a sense of urgency and persistence
  • Takes initiative to learn better ways of doing things (takes advantage of opportunities to improve skill set, attends courses and seminars to broaden knowledge) and demonstrates initiative
  • Establishes collaborative working relationships and actively develops them to accomplish work objectives more effectively

Education and Experience

  • Three (3) - Five (5) years of experience in an analytical position
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain or related field preferred; relevant job experience in lieu of degree will be considered
  • Working knowledge of an MRP and ERP system (SAP, BlueCherry, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, etc.)
  • Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required; advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint a plus
  • Experience with Tableau or similar business intelligence or analytics software (Power BI) a plus
  • APICS certification in CPIM or CSCP a plus

The salary range for this posted position is $63,000 - $80,000 (plus bonus & benefits) and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
