This position is in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania for which the incumbent must maintain permanent Commonwealth residency. The employer will not pay for relocation, housing, or travel expenses. Teleworking from within Pennsylvania is optional for this position with an occasional need to report to the Harrisburg office.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

With our team, you will explain current reporting requirements, policies, and procedures based on the retirement code as well as provide system guidance and troubleshooting assistance to employers, ensuring they are correctly submitting their employee's appropriate personal, position, salary, and service data to PSERS. You will be trained to instruct employers on laws, rules, and procedures related to the Public School Employees' Retirement System. These include, but are not limited to, rules for membership eligibility and qualification, calculating service time, determining retirement covered compensation, differences between Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution reporting, employer billing on the purchase of service credit, and returning to work after retirement. You will provide technical assistance to employers and their IT service and software providers on correct file formatting as well as submission of member demographic records, contract records, work reports, and work report adjustments through web-based reporting systems. This is essential for ensuring retirees can obtain the benefits they earned in their roles with our state's public schools. Your responsibilities will also involve conducting employer workshops, webinar trainings, and on-site school visits with employers' staff to train them in new material and provide refresher training on existing policies and procedures as needed. This includes working with new employer staff to provide orientation and technical support to help them hone the skills needed to provide consistent and accurate reporting. This is a trainee position. Following the successful completion of one year training, candidate will be eligible for promotion to PSERS Retirement Representative Pay Group 07. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with the expectation of working from the Harrisburg office a minimum of one day per week. Additional in-person bureau trainings may also be assigned throughout the year. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of staff support experience assisting with human resources administration, financial management, or public relations work in a pension or retirement system or a related occupational area; or
- A bachelor's degree in communications, human resources, business administration, business management, psychology, labor relations, or a related area; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
