Director of Finance
Location: Long Island City, NY (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite)
Compensation: $160,000 - $200,000 + Bonus

Our client is seeking a dynamic Director of Finance to oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department and drive financial excellence within the organization. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance, this role will manage the accounting team, ensure compliance with GAAP, and implement scalable policies to foster continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to enhance financial processes. NetSuite expertise is an absolute requirement, as this role will involve optimizing and leveraging the system for financial reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily accounting operations and ensure smooth financial reporting.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering clear communication across departments.

  • Assist in the development, documentation, and implementation of scalable financial policies and procedures.

  • Review financial processes annually to maintain GAAP, regulatory, and external audit compliance.

  • Prepare and present executive briefings on financial performance, operational metrics, and strategic insights.

  • Partner with IT to ensure seamless financial system integration and security.

  • Drive process improvements across departments such as Sales, Billing, FP&A, GL, and Cash Management.

  • Research and propose solutions for complex accounting challenges.

  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and support for special projects.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Master's preferred).

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, ideally in both private industry and a Big Four firm.

  • CPA highly preferred; audit or assurance experience required.

  • NetSuite expertise is mandatory - candidates must have hands-on experience with reports, modules, and SuiteBilling.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft systems and banking portals; Tipalti experience is a plus.

  • Exceptional leadership, organization, and attention to detail.

  • Strong ability to collaborate with senior executives and cross-functional teams.

  • Understanding of key accounting principles such as Revenue Recognition (ASC 606).

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
