As the Manufacturing Engineer supporting MEGA Projects, you will combine your expertise in CNC machining, metal fabrication, assembly, and general manufacturing processes with lean manufacturing tools to eliminate waste, improve productivity, and enhance product quality. As part of the MEGA projects team, you will participate in the new product development process to accelerate products to the market without compromising in cost and quality. Under the guidance of the Manufacturing Engineer Manager, you will research, justify, and manage capital equipment purchases, lead Kaizen teams, and develop manufacturing methods that drive efficiency and safety.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

  • New Product Development
    • Participate in the new product development process for MEGA Projects to ensure all manufacturing engineering deliverables are met on time.
    • Design machinery, tools, and fixtures using 3D solid modeling software.
    • Initiate and implement productivity projects, including capital equipment purchases.
    • Develop, evaluate, and refine manufacturing methods, leveraging knowledge of product design, materials, processes, and tooling.
    • Assist in creating process control plans and work instructions, ensuring adherence to quality control standards.
  • Post-Launch Support
    • Provide daily technical support for operations, involving machining, metal fabrication, assembly, and valve testing.
    • Provide necessary support to resolve any field complaints.
    • Apply Six Sigma tools to improve process capability, repeatability, first-pass yields, and conformance to quality requirements.
    • Lead Kaizen and continuous improvement events to enhance quality, productivity, and safety outcomes.

Experience and Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience, including CNC machining, metal fabrication, and assembly.
  • Proficiency in solid modeling and CAD software, with tool and fixture design experience.
  • Hands-on skills using basic mechanical tools for assembly/fabrication tasks.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles and tools.
  • Prior experience with the processing of castings a plus.
  • CNC programming utilizing CAD/CAM software for milling and turning operations is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of cutting tools used in CNC and conventional machining processes is a plus.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor a plus.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

This position is located onsite in a manufacturing facility. Work will be performed in both an office and manufacturing setting, adhering to all safety standards and requirements, including the use of appropriate PPE.
