Job Overview

The Planner/Scheduler I ensures Komatsu's global parts inventory meets performance targets by optimizing stock levels, minimizing excess inventory, and maximizing customer satisfaction. This role manages service parts planning, scheduling, and forecasting for domestic and international customers, field offices, and warehouses. Additionally, the position acts as a liaison between various departments to coordinate on-time parts delivery while promoting safe working practices.

Key Job Responsibilities


  • Manage inventory to meet corporate stock turn, on-time delivery (OTD), and excess & obsolete (E&O) reduction goals.



  • Schedule and maintain accurate due dates for incoming orders based on customer needs and purchasing lead times.



  • Act as a primary contact for assigned regions, providing planning support, training, and standardizing procedures.



  • Analyze historical usage and demand trends to adjust inventory levels and maintain accurate forecasts.



  • Coordinate with Engineering, Regional Support, Traffic, Warehousing, and other teams to ensure timely parts delivery.



  • Review and process customer order cancellations in compliance with global policies.



  • Maintain and improve planning standard operating procedures and work instructions.



  • Conduct monthly regional performance reviews and planning calls.



  • Identify and execute strategies for minimizing freight costs and optimizing global E&O inventory utilization.



  • Support aftermarket planning projects aligned with department objectives.



Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.



  • 1-3 years of production planning and scheduling experience preferred.



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SAP R/3.



  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex data.



  • ISM or APICS certifications (CPIM, CPM, CSCP) preferred.



  • Effective communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization.



  • Ability to read blueprints and understand engineering changes impacting inventory and production.
