Job Description

We are currently hiring a Quality Assurance Laboratory COOP for our Quality Assurance Laboratory Team at the Sam Adams Cincinnati Brewery (SACB) in Cincinnati, OH*. This position is from July-December.

*This role is full time on site, which requires that our coworkers reside within commuting distance to be onsite 5 days per week.

BBC will provide CO-OPs with meaningful learning, social, and networking experiences, exposure to real life business challenges, platform for creative thinking, and opportunity to work alongside and learn from BBC coworkers cross functionally.

By the end of CO-OP, students will have learned and gained core project management skills, marketing, and core business acumen, built relationships with our teams, have exposure to customer and consumer feedback, develop product launch support and marketing campaigns, and develop other marketing functional skills (depending on department placement).

The QA Laboratory Co-op at the Cincinnati, OH Brewery is an opportunity to learn about the beer making process and quality assurance. You will also develop laboratory management and time management skills. The position reports to the Assistant Quality Manager and it entails analytical and microbiological analysis of wort and beer from the brew house through packaging.

You will learn how to operate and troubleshoot lab equipment along with how to identify microbial growth on plates. Additionally, you will be working closely with the Quality team to schedule testing and go about your daily tasks.

What You'll Brew:



  • Cell counts and fermentation tracking
  • Perform scheduled microbiological analysis
  • Record daily analysis results in QA databases
  • Maintain overall cleanliness and sanitation of lab
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate regularly with the brewing team
  • Shipping and receiving lab samples / package
  • Time management and organizational skills are essential.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs.
  • Ability to be on your feet and in motion for a majority of the day



What Ingredients You'll Bring:

Minimum Qualifications



  • Must be a student currently enrolled studying Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or brewing program.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be able to commit to a 6 month Co-Op Cycle
  • Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States, now or in the future



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Sterile plate technique a plus
  • Ability to work in a flexible and changing schedule
  • Writes clearly and effectively, document activities and presents ideas
  • Professional attitude and demeanor & Follows up on commitments
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to be attentive to all aspects of the manufacturing environment while working
  • Home brewing or other progress towards brewing experience a plus

In accordance with pay transparency laws the pay range for this role if hired is $18 - $20 per hour. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location.
