What is the opportunity?

The Head, Digital Payment Products will be responsible for the strategy, design and delivery of the Wealth Management-U.S. (WM-US) digital payment product set to grow the adoption and utilization of our cash management account, a key component of the banking and lending business strategy for RBC Wealth Management.

In this role, you will lead new digital product development and build out the payments product suite strategy to drive product adoption of payment products across WM-US. You will design and build the digital product team to ensure key positions are in place to support digital product development, implementation and support.

Digital products are a key focus for the WM-US Banking and Lending team. This work requires the development of an overarching digital payment strategy with the ability to engage, align, collaborate and integrate work efforts across the organization in support of the overarching Wealth Management strategy, as well as the direct accountability to build out digital product banking capabilities in WM-US from a blank slate.

What will you do?

  • Develop thought leadership and strategies to enhance and drive the current and future state of digital product payment strategies, which includes but is not limited to debit/credit cards, loyalty programs, bill pay, ACH/wires, and mobile applications, etc., which are critical enablers to the WM-US overall strategy and objectives.
  • Collaborate on the design, integration, and delivery across multiple lines of business to bring together an overarching strategy for digital products, working closely with key internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Partner with WM-US Bankers and Financial Advisors to identify and gain a clear understanding of client usage pain points to develop and implement solutions to eliminate pain points and drive adoption and usage of products.
  • Develop and execute a digital payments product roadmap that aligns with business objectives, prioritizes initiatives, and provides robust product requirements for new products and enhancements to existing products.
  • Create the evaluation criteria to ensure successful delivery of digital products and partner with internal WM-US Bankers and sales personnel to drive client utilization.
  • Act as the digital product subject matter expert for Wealth Management Bankers, Financial Advisors, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Risk/Fraud, and Technology partners.
  • Develop the framework and build out the team/positions and structure for the digital payments products strategy, implementation and support for the field and clients.
  • Oversee direct reports by setting clear expectations and objective targets and holding team members accountable to the outcomes they produce.
  • Enhance the culture of the organization through demonstrating personal leadership and regular engagement with employees. Support best in class talent management processes that support attracting, engaging, retaining and developing top talent.
  • Implement and maintain an appropriate system of internal controls to identify, assess, measure and mitigate current and emerging operational, compliance, reputational and strategic risks on an ongoing basis, and supervises appropriate management of risks consistent with the US strategy and risk tolerance.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 12+ years of digital payment product development experience within wealth management firm, with direct experience in managing payment products including but not limited to, Bill Pay, debit/credit cards, loyalty programs, ACH/Wires, mobile applications including P2P
  • 5+ years of management experience in leading a product team within the financial services industry and bachelor's degree in finance, business or related field.
  • SIE,a Series 7 and Series 63 licenses required, or to be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
  • Proven and extensive experience managing bank payment products in the context of a broker dealer in a wealth management firm and strong understanding of the product set regulatory and legal requirements
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, highly motivated self-starter, possesses the curiosity to ask hard questions, explore new ideas and continuously learns and researches to meet goals
  • Ability to travel to other RBC offices and client premises as required.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $130,000 - $210,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
