Job Description

Senior Business Analyst, RBC Capital Markets, LLC, Houston, TX:

Translate the business needs, processes, and procedures of the Houston Commodities Trading desk into a workable system and articulate specific software requirements by communicating these requirements with developers and business stakeholders. Collaborate with our stakeholders and internal technology team to develop solutions, conduct both development and quantitative/quality assurance testing, and present and facilitate the adoption of the proposed solution to secure stakeholder agreement. Architect and design solutions tailored to the commodities business that align with the strategic technology roadmap of the organization. Determine and allocate resources and implement Kanban or Agile methodologies in software development to create the solution, perform user acceptance testing, and manage deployment into production. Support the Trading Desk/Traders with their day-to-day activities. Provide explanations for P&L variance, assess risk reporting, and deliver scenario analyses to the trading senior management. Work with stakeholders and internal leadership to establish resource prioritization. Communicate the proposal to stakeholders to gain their support. Manage and lead professional employees, ensuring project delivery is in line with steering prioritization and the goals of the Commodities business. Assist employees in adhering to a professional development plan that matches their career aspirations.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Business Studies or a related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate related work experience.

Must have 5 years of experience in each the following:

  • Technology Project;
  • Capital Markets focused on OpenLink or equivalent trade processing systems;
  • Driving requirements planning or facilitation and detailed analysis;
  • Designing functional flows and high-level architecture;
  • Expertise in the financial sector with comprehensive understanding of financial reference data (including client, book, and security concepts), accounting principles, electronic trading,
    trade lifecycle management, settlement operations, and regulatory compliance;
  • Implementing various project management methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile; and,
  • Analyzing and testing software solutions for Capital Market initiatives, as well as overseeing the Business Analysis and Quality Assurance functions for Commodities Technology,
    collaborating with various commodity trading desks such as Precious Metals, Environmental Trading, and Base Metals.
