Suncoast Hospice Foundation, a member of Empath Health is currently seeking a Special Events Coordinator to join our team.This position is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating special events for all affiliates, including volunteer support and participation.

The EPIC Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and evaluating the annual fundraising initiatives for EPIC including oversight of signature and community events to ensure quality and financial success. This position will lead the effort to identify, cultivate, solicit and acknowledge donors and sponsors; deepen engagement of current donor, board members, funding partners and the community at large. The EPIC Events Coordinator also acts as an ambassador and liaison in the LGBTQ+ community. Position reports to the Director of Events.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work with the Director to manage EPIC special events such as fundraising initiatives, with emphasis on identifying, developing, and implementing the special events to meet company objectives.
  2. Work with external community groups on large events that benefit EPIC. Attend in person meetings and trainings - travelling where appropriate.
  3. Act as liaison for community outreach events.
  4. Work with EPIC leadership to identify a plan for fundraising expansion in Pasco, Sarasota and Manatee counties.
  5. Establish an annual plan for special events with approval of Director of
  6. Cultivation within the LGBTQ+ community to identify prospect for sponsorships, major gifts and planned giving.
  7. Develop and implement procedures and systems for ongoing maintenance, monitoring and evaluation of special events, reporting results and trends to the Director of Events.
  8. Recruit, train and place special events volunteers; identify and cultivate volunteers with particular capabilities such as leadership, etc.
  9. Work with each event committee to assure success of event and compliance with special events policy.
  10. Act as volunteer liaison and coordinator during events; assessing volunteer needs, screening, assigning and supervising volunteer positions.
  11. Coordinate the tracking, training, cultivation of and communication with all special events volunteers.
  12. Compile and report events volunteer hours in database in a timely manner each month.
  13. Maintain communications with volunteers by coordinating regular meetings as required and utilizing agency publications and websites as well as emails as appropriate.
  14. Participate as an active team member within the Foundation as well as work with other departments as needed.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

* Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Knowledge of HIV Services and support systems preferred.
* Ability to work nights and weekends. This role requires travel for a week-long annual event, with additional travel as needed for event preparation.
* Special events experience preferred, preferably 2 or more years with management level experience.
* Experience in supervision of volunteers preferred.
* Administrative/organizational and computer skills. Virtuous experience preferred.
* Experience in a team atmosphere.
* Must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must be able to provide proof of automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in their employee file.
* Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
