Systems Administrator

The Systems Administrator will play a key role in our transition from on-premises infrastructure to a cloud-based environment. This role will focus on cloud administration, endpoint management, and serving as a liaison to our offshore system administration team. Additionally, this individual will help establish and maintain runbooks while ensuring smooth on-site operations.

The candidate must be local to our Manchester, CT headquarters and on-site presence each week in-office is required.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain cloud environments, ensuring system stability, security, and efficiency.

• Serve as a primary liaison between the on-prem and offshore system administration teams, facilitating communication and operational alignment.

• Assist in developing and maintaining runbooks for cloud and on-premises system administration tasks.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and endpoint devices.

• Manage end-user devices, including software deployment, security updates, and performance tuning.

• Maintain hands-on experience with data center hardware and ensure a smooth transition to cloud infrastructure.

• Ensure backups and disaster recovery solutions are effectively managed, with strong knowledge of Veeam and Backup Exec.

• Support Windows, Linux, and other company-approved operating systems and applications.

• Collect, monitor, and analyze system performance data, ensuring optimal uptime and efficiency.

• Work closely with the Engineering Team to support IT infrastructure projects.

• Implement and maintain security policies, software patching, and firmware updates across all systems.

• Maintain accurate system documentation, inventories, and compliance records.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to problem-solving.

• Extensive experience with Microsoft Server Products, Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, and DHCP.

• Experience with cloud platform MS Azure.

• Knowledge of Citrix, VMware, and virtualized environments.

• Proficiency in TCP/IP networking concepts, including SSL/HTTPS, SMTP, FTP, SSH, DNS, and DHCP.

• Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell preferred) for automation and administrative tasks.

• Basic understanding of storage area networks (SANs), firewalls, and wireless configurations.

• Experience with centralized logging and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, WhatsUp Gold).

• Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, including runbooks and operational guides.
