About the Position The Traffic Systems Analyst works in a state-of-the-art Traffic Management Center (TMC) to improve traffic flow by using cutting-edge Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and bridging the gap between traffic signal operations and maintenance. In this role, high importance is placed on using today's traffic signal equipment and technology, ITS, Automated Traffic Signal Performance Metrics (ATSPM), and other data to predict traffic conditions and keep traffic moving efficiently. This position has a high standard for customer service and will work directly with the public to address arterial congestion. This position will act as the liaison between the traffic signal operational and maintenance technical leads for ITS and traffic signal technologies. About Us We value your time. We Require
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; Or Four years of professional pre-registration civil engineering experience; Or Four years of experience leading and performing senior-level technical engineering work Certification as an Engineer-In-Training may substitute for the experience An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire

Job Contributions
Review the operation of traffic signals in real-time by implementing and modifying traffic signal timing, vehicle detection, and other traffic signal systems from the Traffic Management Center (TMC) for improving traffic flows, reducing delay and travel time, and mitigating queuing based on monitoring the tools within the TMC Recommend and implement traffic signal controller parameter settings based on operational and high-resolution performance data needed to support ATSPM and other ITS systems; monitor and troubleshoot traffic signal and equipment health and adjust controller parameter settings Coordinate with multiple groups within the Traffic Operations Branch, including the Traffic Management Center and Signal Maintenance groups, and outside traffic signal manufacturers support teams to coordinate, communicate, and execute operational strategies and guidance. This position will program traffic signal controller parameters for achieving advanced signal timing initiatives as set forth by the Arterial Operations Program Monitor and analyze arterial traffic flows focused on nonrecurring congestion, special events, and incident-related scenarios using ITS tools, social media, modeling using Synchro and other traffic signal timing software, automated traffic signal performance metrics, and travel time mapping tools. Prepare implementation plans based on analysis findings Compile, interpret, analyze, and calculate field investigation data for traffic signal and traffic congestion concerns; make logical recommendations based on findings; execute solutions; and communicate with the public regarding traffic signal operational inquiries Review traffic signal warrant studies and engineering plans for compliance with standards and guidelines Act in the role of Integrated Corridor Management (ICM) Coordinator for the AZTech region. Facilitate the management of transportation corridors as a system rather than using the more traditional approach of managing roadways as individual assets Other job duties as assigned
