Overview

The Web Architect will be responsible for providing technical solutions to a variety of enterprise wide business problems that impact the web and mobile technologies. They are expected to maintain expertise in web industry standards, technologies and trends. They will also be accountable for analyzing and designing solutions to meet enterprise wide business requirements and guiding the implementation team to successful solution implementation. The ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, including senior management, is essential. They will also be responsible for understanding the interdependencies of the enterprise landscape. Lead teams of architects, application developers and other IT resources across development teams. Ability to work outside core business hours including holiday work is required and a condition of employment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. An additional four (4) years of experience in web and/or mobile solutions may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Five (5) years of experience with demonstrated results in building, designing, purchasing and integrating systems or demonstrated equivalent knowledge required.

  • Experience in Business Intelligence or Integration technologies.

  • Experience with methodology-based development.

  • Advanced understanding of application design principles and application architecture.

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and technology strategy necessary to support business goals.

  • Exceptional ability to build rapport and credibility with both technical and non-technical staff.

  • Experience writing and facilitating Requests for Information/Proposals.

  • Ability to navigate and work on multiple operating systems such as OS/400, AIX, or Windows.

  • Ability to work as part of a team or to be self-directed as required.

  • Good organizational and project management skills including demonstrated success in leading medium to large sized project teams.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of health care business is preferred.

Essential Accountabilities
  • Leadership

    • Maintain an awareness of technology and healthcare industry trends and best practices to contribute ideas and efforts to the achievement of strategic goals.

    • Promote Independent Health's Core Values in all activities.

    • Coach, mentor and delegate to other IT staff to facilitate their development.

    • Maintain relationships with vendors and user communities to build understanding of systems capabilities, applications used by other organizations, etc.

    • Establish and maintain IT performance metrics and quality standards to measure the success of key activities and initiatives.

    • Provide day-to-day technical support to all IT resources to solve problems, provide guidance and direction and develop new skills in others.

    • Facilitate a collaborative approach to problem solving and make well-reasoned decisions.

  • Systems Architecture

    • Provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision making through to the project planning level.

    • Provide technical direction by developing/recommending alternatives and creative solutions that are both effective and efficient in cost and process.

    • Develop collaborative working relationships with Independent Health business unit leaders and system users to understand business requirements, service expectations and priorities/ preferences for the organization's systems.

    • Bring forth an enterprise perspective in all work activities.

    • Collaborate with other IH Architects and other resources to create, refine and implement organizational design and development standards.

    • Develop and maintain high level design plans for the logical and technical structure for IT systems and processes.

    • Gain approval and organizational commitment for systems, infrastructure and software plans from appropriate IT and business unit leaders.

    • Facilitate Requests for Information/Requests for Proposal to make strategic technology choices based on business requirements and information systems strategy, principles and structure.

  • Engineering

    • Follow the IT systems development lifecycle in order to achieve project objectives within budget and timeframe requirements.

    • Manage large projects.

    • Establish quality standards, checkpoints, and communications processes to ensure project quality.

  • System and Software Development

    • Demonstrate good analytical abilities and technical skills.

    • Prepare detailed system and program specifications.

    • Manage testing of all system functions.

    • Prepare and provide user training and system documentation.

    • Create and follow standards and maintain processes to balance consistency with flexibility to support the business needs.

    • Lead data validation effort by planning, designing and deploying effective test regimens. Apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate, verify, communicate and resolve issues through careful testing.

    • Develop written specifications and documentation to support business processes.

    • Apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate and resolve problems.

    • Ensure stability, integrity, availability, productivity and efficient operation of all systems.

  • End User Support

    • Translate customer needs into requirements.

    • Manage changes to requirements.

    • Ensure customer requests for information are addressed and follow up occurs.

    • Gain customer satisfaction.

    • Understand business objectives of departments.

    • Evaluate and recommend application systems that can improve department's environment.

Hiring Compensation Range: $120,000 - $145,000 annually

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
