St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a tertiary care hospital focused on the treatment of catastrophic childhood illnesses including cancer, sickle cell disease and other hematologic disorders, HIV and other infectious diseases, endocrinology, and neurological disorders.

The Rehabilitation Services department at St. Jude is dedicated to providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families. We are seeking a driven and compassionate Occupational Therapist I or II to join our team. In this role, you will provide care for diverse groups of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults in the inpatient and outpatient settings. The Occupational Therapist I or II identifies, tests, diagnoses, and treats disorders through the therapeutic use of everyday activities to improve function in the home, school, and community settings; provides comprehensive care to infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and adults in the inpatient and outpatient settings; and consistently participates in clinical programming, educational, and research initiatives as directed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments; study, identify, measure, and treat disorders as part of the Rehabilitation Services department.

  • Provide preventive, habilitative, rehabilitative, adaptive, and palliative care, and deliver suitable interventions to both inpatients and outpatients within area.

  • Provide evidence-based treatment within area to improve outcomes and quality of life for patients.

  • As applicable, oversee provision of devices and aids related to own rehabilitation area, and operate testing equipment.

  • Participate in clinical programming, education, and research initiatives as directed.

  • Complete and review appropriate documents and records as required; communicate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g., clinical and research staff) as required.

  • Assess need for, recommends, and oversees the process of measuring and fitting orthotic and prosthetic devices, low vision equipment, activities of daily living (ADL) equipment, and assistive devices.

  • Counsel patients and caregivers regarding diagnosis, prognosis, and plan of care.

  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

For Occupational Therapist I:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field from an accredited program in occupational therapy required.

  • Master's degree in a field from an accredited program in occupational therapy preferred.

For Occupational Therapist II:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited program required.

  • Master's degree in occupational therapy preferred.

Minimum Experience:

For Occupational Therapist I:

  • 1+ years of pediatric experience preferred.

For Occupational Therapist II:

  • 7+ years of pediatric experience in Occupational Therapy with Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of pediatric experience in Occupational Therapy with Master's degree.

  • 1+ years of pediatric oncology experience preferred.

  • Experience executing and leading patient treatment plans within relevant rehabilitation area.

  • Proven performance in earlier role.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by Law:

For Occupational Therapist I and II:

  • (OCCTHER-TN) Licensure by State of Tennessee Board of Examiners, Division of Health Related Boards required.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:

For Occupational Therapist I and II:

  • (NL) Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association required.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $70,720 - $126,880 per year for the role of Occupational Therapist I or II.
