Working under limited supervision, the Service Maintenance Specialist is responsible for various maintenance and operational activities performed at the Service tools and equipment warehouse, including inspections, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and resolving malfunctions of mechanical and electrical equipment. The Maintenance Specialist also assists shipping and receiving any equipment and tools, in the warehouse. The position requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Main Responsibilities
- Perform repairs on mechanical equipment containing compressors, vacuum pumps, piping, electrical controls and associated systems, including replacing parts, adjusting settings and replacing hoses, valves, sensors and any necessary components.
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance, such as battery charging or replacements, oil changes, filter replacements and calibrations of mechanical tools and measuring devices.
- Identify and diagnose mechanical, electrical and pneumatic issues with compressors and related equipment.
- Conduct thorough inspections and tests to determine the root cause of problems.
- Work with OEM to, if needed, to assist in proper repair or diagnosis of problems and repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair other test equipment in Tool Pool, as needed, to support all field service operations.
- Assist with the shipping and receiving as assigned of incoming and outgoing equipment and tools
- Execute Incoming inspections of test equipment and tools received back from job sites or from suppliers, in compliance to operating procedures and checklists
- Perform basic visual and functional tests in tools and equipment, such toolboxes, slings, HV electrical test equipment, torque wrenches, tool sets, SF6 gas carts.
- Verify that materials received are as ordered in both type and quantity. Route incoming service shipments to proper location in equipment warehouse.
- Keep the tools and equipment warehouse in good condition and organization
- Perform duties in a manner compliant with prevailing quality procedures and policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
- Participate in the activities defined by the safety and security areas to ensure Continuous Improvement.
- With assistance from other department personnel, this position requires preparing shipments that may require building of crates, packing boxes or preparing pallets.
Knowledge, skills, experience:
- Technical High School in mechanical or electrical field plus 5 years of related experience in industrial maintenance
- Preference for candidates with experience on commercial / industrial HVAC
- Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment, such as compressors, pumps, hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems and pipefitting
- Proven knowledge of preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and repair various types of compressors and related systems
- Knowledge of compressed air or gas systems including their components and operations
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Good mechanical ability and light fabrication used during repairs
