Position Title:Director of Physician Recruitment Department:OUHP Administration Job Description:

Reporting to the Office of Chief Physician Executive (CPE) with a dotted line to the Dean of the College of Medicine (COM), the Director of Physician Recruitment oversees the strategic design and execution of the full-cycle recruitment and onboarding process for OU Health's physician group. This role acts as a vital connector, serving as the central point of contact for candidates, department chairs, academic and clinical stakeholders, and external recruitment firms. By aligning recruitment efforts with OU Health and OU College of Medicine's mission and goals, the Director ensures the organization is positioned as the Employer of Choice for physician top talent. The role also supports recruitment efforts through active participation in key events and facilitates seamless transitions from sourcing through onboarding.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine comprehensive physician recruitment strategies that align with OU Health and the OU College of Medicines clinical and academic goals.
  • Oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding, ensuring an exceptional candidate experience.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between candidates, department chairs, academic leaders, clinical stakeholders, and external recruitment firms (as needed), fostering transparency and alignment throughout the process.
  • Represent the Office of Physician Recruitment at national conferences and key recruitment events, facilitating networking opportunities, candidate engagement, and post-event follow-up.
  • Work closely with the College of Medicine Dean, Clinical Chairs, Vice President of Ambulatory Services, and other leaders to streamline the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and priorities.
  • Act as the dedicated OU Health contact for physician recruitment, owning all activities related to sourcing, recruitment, and onboarding in close collaboration with departments.
  • Conduct market analyses to ensure competitive offerings and alignment with physician market trends, addressing both short- and long-term physician needs.
  • Champion recruitment practices that foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, cultivating an environment that attracts a diverse range of top physician talent.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for physician recruitment efforts, providing regular updates to leadership on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of physician recruiters, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Manage relationships with external recruitment agencies, sourcing specialists, and other vendors, ensuring efficient and cost-effective talent acquisition strategies.

General Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: 5 to 7 years of progressive leadership experience in physician recruitment required.

Licenses/Certifications: SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or a related certification is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven success in leading full-cycle recruitment strategies, with specific experience in healthcare or academic medicine.
  • Demonstrated ability to align recruitment initiatives with organizational goals and foster collaboration across departments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with candidates, leaders, and external partners.
  • In-depth understanding of physician labor markets, recruitment challenges, and trends in physician staffing.
  • Proficiency in using data and analytics to inform recruitment strategies and measure success.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Willingness to travel for conferences, recruitment events, and candidate engagement opportunities.
