About the Team / Role WEX is currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join its Business Investments group. WEX is committed to building a robust investment strategy partnering with Commercial, Technology, and Product teams to fund investments to drive future growth. As our Senior Financial Analyst you'll report to the Finance Director of Business Investments group and will be responsible for leading the project portfolio management process for all capital expenditures. Ensuring delivery of quality financial analysis modeling and partnering with key stakeholders to support strategic decision making that will ultimately improve business performance. This role is flexible to be hybrid from Portland, ME or remote from Boston, MA or Dallas, TX with some travel required to Global Headquarters in Portland, ME. How you'll make an impact
Implement a robust investment portfolio management framework focused on maximizing risk-adjusted returns across all capital investments. Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including NPV, IRR, and ROI, to evaluate and prioritize investment opportunities based on their potential to deliver strong returns. Build and/or improve business case models that allows to play different scenarios and show sensitivity analysis Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Technology, Commercial) to identify, assess, and select high-impact investment projects that align with strategic objectives and deliver superior financial outcomes. Continuously monitor and track the performance of existing investments, analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and assess return on investment (ROI). Proactively identify and address underperforming investments, implementing corrective actions to improve returns. Prepare insightful reports and presentations to communicate investment performance and key findings to senior leadership, highlighting key drivers of success and areas for improvement. Streamline and automate investment processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance decision-making. Implement a new capital planning tool to support data-driven investment decisions and improve overall portfolio management. Liaise closely with FP&A directors, managers, and analysts to ensure all ad-hoc projects undergo rigorous review and are properly business-cased, ensuring alignment with investment priorities and return expectations. Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization to understand their investment needs and priorities. Collaborate effectively with Finance, Accounting, and other relevant teams to ensure compliance and optimize investment outcomes. Bring strong communication skills, organizational rigor, and a strong desire to improve the financial relationship with our internal customers
Experience you'll bring
College degree, BS degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred 8 - 10+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis, business analysis, or a related field. Experience with (or strong desire to) working in a large team and working cross-functionally with a large number of business partners and stakeholders Experience with advanced analytical modeling and data wrangling using Google, Excel, Alteryx, UIPath or other similar tools Experience with financial planning and reporting tools like Anaplan, HFM or similar. Experience with capital investment or project tracking preferred Accounting background preferred Experience with (or a strong desire to learn) drawing actionable insights from Data to deliver on business goals and impact Ability to be a proactive and self-driven working professional who is eager to learn, grow and have business impact
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
