Summary of Job Duties:The CORE Operations Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day functioning of the Cyberspace Operations Research and Education (CORE) Center's student-focused and operational activities. This role entails developing cybersecurity procedures, overseeing security compliance, and managing relationships with member organizations to foster an environment that supports hands-on cybersecurity education and research. The Operations Coordinator works closely with faculty, students, and industry partners to maintain operational excellence and compliance within the CORE Center. This position is governed by state and federal laws and institution policy. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Information Technology, Project Management) or equivalent experience;
  • Proven track record in program coordination, operations management, or related fields; experience in a higher-education or technology-focused environment is a plus.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement security operational procedures for student workers and volunteers;
  • Establish and maintain compliance processes aligned with CMMC or similar security frameworks, and oversee both on-site and cloud-based systems for the CORE Center;
  • Recruit and manage participating companies for the CORE Cybersecurity Clinic Services;
  • Coordinate student work opportunities with member organizations by aligning relevant coursework, skill sets, and project requirements with a standard set of services offered by the clinic;
  • Manage insider threat and security training programs, ensuring staff, students, and volunteers receive proper guidance to safeguard sensitive information;
  • Coordinate student and mentor certifications necessary for handling law enforcement sensitive and company confidential data;
  • Assign and sign off on student work for CORE member organizations to maintain quality assurance and project accountability for clinic services;
  • Organize and facilitate student worker meetings, track progress, and resolve issues to keep initiatives on schedule;
  • Match students with faculty, graduate, and industry mentors to foster supportive relationships that enhance both learning and project outcomes;
  • Oversee the management of CORE equipment and supply inventory, which includes coordinating procurement, distribution, and maintenance to meet operational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles, frameworks like CMMC, and basic understanding of on-premises vs. cloud-based security practices;
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple tasks, lead teams, and meet deadlines with minimal oversight;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of effectively collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, and industry partners;
  • Understanding of data protection guidelines, insider threat programs, and security training requirements.
