We are seeking a skilled Technician in Integration Engineering who will leverage their technical expertise and leadership to ensure safe and efficient human spaceflight. This role involves setting up production areas, operating precision tools, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to support our mission of safe space exploration.

Position Specific Details:

  • Shift: A | Monday - Thursday (6am - 2:30pm), B | Monday - Thursday (2pm-10:30pm), C | Friday - Sunday (6am-6:30pm), D | Friday - Sunday (6pm - 6:30am)
  • Location: Space Coast, FL
  • Relocation: Available

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure new production work areas with the necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize any potential delays during the transition to high-rate manufacturing.
  • Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.
  • Drive the transition from development to production, proactively performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.
  • Tasks involve preparing and testing payload systems and hardware by applying materials, conducting painting, sealing, composite layup, repairs, testing, and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise:

Join our innovative groups and contribute to pioneering aerospace projects. As atechnician within either the Composites or Surface Coating Facility group, you will play a critical role in advanced manufacturing processes. In the Composites group, you will be instrumental in composite layup using automated and manual techniques, operate specialized equipment like AFP machines, and engage in detailed tasks such as trimming, routing, bonding, and assembly of composites and metallics. Your role will also include adhesive bonding, surface preparation, fixturing, and performing essential repairs to ensure high-quality outputs. In the Surface Coating Facility group, you will assist with production setup and apply various coatings and thermal protection systems to New Glenn flight hardware according to procedures and specifications. Your responsibilities will include operating material handling equipment and conducting inspections. Through your work, you will contribute to the transition from development to production, ensuring the highest standards of aerospace component fabrication and protection.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another related field: (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician)
  • Familiarity with Composite Fabrication Techniques: (Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), Tape Laying (ATL), Lamination, Large Out-of-Autoclave (OoA) Oven Curing, Bonding) OR (Coating Applications: (Primer/Foam Insulation/Sealant Application, RTV Bonding of Thermal Protection Systems (TPS), Vacuum Bagging)
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Experience with precision calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, and optical measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.
  • Expertise in various applications, including adhesives, sealants, and thermal blankets.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field.
  • Experience with cryogenic systems, fluid assembly, and aerospace/launch vehicle assembly, crucial for ensuring the integrity and reliability of our spacecraft's propulsion systems.
  • Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components.
  • Strong technical and leadership skills with a keen attention to detail, essential for leading teams in complex integration tasks.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in diverse teams to foster a positive work environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes, driving innovation.
  • Experience working on aerospace payloads, fairings, capsules.
  • Experience with large out-of-autoclave curing and production control systems.
  • ATF Certification for handling and/or installing explosives.
  • Siemens 840D controller experience, G- and M-code familiarity
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
