Job Summary

Provide strategic and tactical business oversight, management, and support for research operations. Serves as the pre-and/or post-award expert that will train and guide faculty and staff. Areas of responsibilities include but may not be limited to, managing college/school-level research administration, proposals, and awards.

This position will interact on a regular basis with: Faculty and staff and other applicable central offices

This position typically will advise and counsel: Faculty, Researchers, and Staff

This position will supervise: Assigned Staff

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 - Lead research administration analysis and decisions including financial commitments and cost share decisions. Coordinate and develop research administration processes. Lead preparer and submitter for proposals. Works with faculty & sponsors to validate proposed budgets and expenditures
Job Duty 2 - Lead and train pre-and/or post-award staff. Responsible for managing workload and filling vacancies
Job Duty 3 - May oversee/lead post-award activities, such as re-budgets, no-cost extensions, award close-out, and provision of post-award guidance and reporting requirements (sponsor deliverables and/or internal reports), and training to finance and accounting staff
Job Duty 4 - Develop and conduct training on the proposal preparation and submission process
Job Duty 5 - Collaborate with faculty, sponsors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable policies, laws, rules, and regulations. Liaison with other applicable units and/or departments
Job Duty 6 - May assist with preparing space survey for F&A calculation
Job Duty 7 - Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Eight to ten years of job-related experience

Experience working with federal sponsors, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation, the Department of Energy (NSF DOE), the Department of Defense (DOD), and other agencies regarding pre-award proposal submission and post-award management duties. Experience in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), System Security Plan (SSP), and export control

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Occupational Therapy field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ten years of job-related experience.
  • Experience working with Dept. of Education and other federal sponsors such as the Assistive Technology Act (ATA), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Science Foundation, and other agencies regarding pre-award proposal submission and post-award management duties.
Proposed Salary

Grade: A11

Proposed salary range: $83,659-113,777

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
RELATED SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

o Proficient with budgets, reading proposals, and training. Ability to read and understand the
importance of research-related compliance regulations. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse
group of faculty and staff.
o Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of pre- and post-award procedures and requirements.
Expert with accounting principles. Proficient with multidisciplinary and center proposals.
o Must be proficient with excel, grants.gov, cayuse, and research.gov. Must have excellent oral and
written communication skills, including robust writing skills. Must have strong organizational and
time management skills and ability to prioritize a high volume of work.
