Job Purpose

The Director, Program Management is responsible for the successful and timely completion of key projects, facilitating effective information flow between senior management, engineering, operations, and sales. They will spearhead the complete lifecycle management of the next-size generator development, from concept to launch.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Provide daily program direction for engineering and operations.
  • Identify when projects are off-track and develop mitigation plans to resolve.
  • Provide regular project updates to the Hyliion leadership team on project progress and roadblocks.
  • Actively mentor and coach engineering team members in various areas including project managements.
  • Lead a responsive program management function, proactively identifying potential challenges and implementing solutions to ensure on-time execution and achievement of deadlines.
  • Drive the yearly program management goals of the company, ensuring alignment and cascading objectives throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with leadership and functional teams to define project scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
  • Monitor program progress, identify and mitigate risks, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Work closely with engineering and other technical teams to ensure projects are technically sound and feasible
  • Champion the use of project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Scrum framework, two-week sprints, tracking tools) to drive accountability and transparency
  • Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment, motivating the team to achieve ambitious goals
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to program management staff
  • Manage the planning for high volume manufacturing activities including product launch support.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, needed, or required for the business.

Qualifications include:



  • Education, Experience and Certifications

    • Bachelor's degree require. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Experience as a Program Manager Leader or Director-level experience is required
    • 8+ years of experience in program management, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex hardware and software projects
    • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, ideally within industries such as aerospace, robotics, or other technically complex fields.


  • Skills and Abilities

    • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
    • Travel around 25%





Role Classification and Working Conditions

This is an salaried, exempt-level position. This position typically works in an office environment; and given the nature of our business is also exposed to operations/warehouses/production environments.
