About the Role:

Financial Services company focused on real estateis seeking a detail-oriented and strategic AP Accountant to jointheir corporate accounting team. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the accounts payable function while ensuring compliance with internal controls. Reporting to the Assistant Corporate Controller, the AP Accountant will play a key role in processing corporate expenses, managing invoice approvals, and ensuring accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process 100-150 invoices bi-monthly, ensuring accurate tracking of corporate expenses.

  • Determine whether invoices are corporate or fund-related and allocate them appropriately across seven different entities.

  • Track and obtain internal approvals for invoices before processing payments.

  • Maintain a pipeline monitoring strategy, ensuring timely payment runs and tracking month-end impact on financials.

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.

  • Assist in general ledger (GL) accounting tasks, including monthly accruals and expense tracking.

  • Participate in daily check-ins with the Assistant Controller to review pending approvals.

  • Utilize Dynamics GP to manage AP transactions and reconciliations.

  • Identify areas for process improvement, while respecting established controls and workflows.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • BA in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.

  • Prior experience in accounts payable and general accounting within a structured corporate environment.

  • Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance, and financial reporting.

  • Experience working with Dynamics GP or similar ERP systems.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, collaborative, and high-caliber environment.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accurate financial tracking.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally within the organization.

Cultural & Work Environment:
  • The team operates within a highly structured and controlled environment, ensuring appropriate checks and balances.

  • This is not a high-volume transactional AP processing role but a strategic accounting-focused AP position.

  • Daily engagement with the Assistant Controller is expected to ensure alignment on approvals and processes.

  • Candidates must be comfortable working within existing frameworks but should proactively highlight opportunities for efficiency improvements.

  • The role is 75% AP-focused and 25% GL Accounting, making it ideal for individuals who seek both structure and analytical responsibility.

  • Prior public accounting experience is valued, though not required, as it aligns well with the precision and rigor of the role.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
