What you'll do

As a Software Delivery Intern on Viasat's Segment Delivery team, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the planning, coordination, and documentation of software releases for our inflight connectivity systems. This exciting internship opportunity, you will have a chance to learn about software delivery processes while contributing to real-world projects that connect aircraft around the globe. Day to day work will include working locally and remotely with a diverse, cross functional team who delivers the inflight connectivity product to airline customers.


The day-to-day

  • Assist in tracking and documenting software release activities for inflight connectivity systems
  • Support the creation and maintenance of release documentation, including Release Notes and Change Descriptions
  • Help organize and update the Software Documentation Hub to improve information accessibility
  • Participate in release planning meetings and observe Go/No-Go decision processes
  • Collaborate with product management, development, and quality assurance teams
  • Assist with collecting and visualizing post-release metrics to support continuous improvement
  • Learn about software development lifecycle management in a complex technical environment
  • Support the team with release coordination tasks and stakeholder communications
  • Gain exposure to satellite communications technology and aviation software systems

Internship Program Details:

  • You will work onsite at a Viasat office location for the duration of your 12-13 week internship. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams.

  • Housing and relocation assistance are available to interns pending eligibility.

  • To ensure equity across our intern population, intern compensation is pre-determined based on a variety of factors including: role, location, and final graduation date. Intern compensation is non-negotiable.


What you'll need

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field
  • To be eligible for this position your final graduation date must fall between December 2025 and June 2026
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Internship Dates:

  • You must be available for the full duration of the 12-13 week internship program. Note limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars:

    • Cohort 1: May 20th, 2025 - August 15th, 2025

    • Cohort 2: June 17th, 2025 - September 12th, 2025


What will help you on the job

  • Interest in software release management, DevOps, or technical project management
  • Coursework in software engineering, project management, or technical documentation
  • Basic familiarity with version control systems (Git preferred)
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar project management tools
  • Previous internship or project experience in a technical environment
  • Knowledge of basic SQL concepts

Salary range

$20.91 - $56.97 / hourly.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $25.96 - $67.07/ hourly
