First review of application will be being on April 8, 2025. Job Description Johnson County Wastewater is looking for candidates to fill the position of Sewer Inspector. This position inspects new construction of sanitary sewer service lines and sanitary sewer main extensions to ensure these facilities are constructed to JCW standards and specifications. Follow-up and service line repair inspections are also completed by the Sewer Inspector. The successful applicant will be required to drive between construction and other site locations in order to complete these functions and will work out of a primary office location in Olathe, Kansas. This position works with a team of inspectors and other Johnson County Wastewater staff in a team and values driven environment. The ability to use computers and various technology resources will be essential for this position. Job duties will include the following:
Inspect installation and repair of sanitary sewer service lines on homes and commercial buildings to ensure the installer has completed installation in accordance with JCW specifications and standards. Inspections help ensure the connections are water tight and structurally sound.
Job Requirements Minimum Job Requirements: Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or equivalent; one (1) year of job related experience working for an engineering and/or construction organization; and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record are required. Johnson County Government requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department/Agency. Preferred Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, or equivalent is preferred. Education/Experience Substitutions: Experience may be substituted for degree. Education may be substituted for experience. Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions: Exposure to extreme temperatures. Exposure to fumes and/or chemicals, heights, and loud noises. Lifting weight: 50 lbs. without assistance and 50-100 lbs. with assistance On call/stand-by work required. Safety-sensitive job. Weather essential job: Department Essential All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments/agencies in a declared emergency situation. |
