Job Description Summary

Interact with Crew Supervisor and Module Team Leaders for the purpose to safely operate equipment to make product that meets the Customer's expectations at levels of productivity that meet or exceed the established plan.

REPORTS TO

Directly to the assigned Crew Supervisor. Indirectly to the Module Team Leaders and Compacting Utility Specialists

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating knowledge of Cincinnati 550 ton presses. This includes hands on training when appropriate
  • Ensure that the assigned area(s) equipment is operating properly and safely throughout the shift
  • Frequently review the Quality of products
  • Compacting Specialists are required to learn and do the following skills:
  • Safety
  • Housekeeping
  • Quality Internal & External
  • Understands importance of Operation
  • Productivity Goals.
  • Actively involved in 5S
  • Proper Machine Operation.
  • Proper Conduct
  • Use the following documented procedures and instructions as required:
  • Standard Operating Procedures
  • Rework Instructions
  • Work Instructions
  • Preventive Maintenance Instructions
  • Inspection Instructions
  • Reaction Plans
  • Process Set-up Instructions
  • Associate Handbook
  • Police Housekeeping
  • Actively involved in 5S
  • Review and verify the Quality of products at their assigned process and provide feedback to Module Team Leader, Quality Specialists, etc. to keep everyone in tune with the process
  • Changeovers and setup compacting presses with the appropriate compact perishable and/or durable tooling as required
  • Complete Operation Productivity & Scrap sheets and verify the following for accuracy:
  • Total pieces good and total pieces scrap
  • Feedback on process and operation
  • In addition to the above responsibilities, this position is responsible for other tasks as assigned

Required Skills and Education

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED (Associate Degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering Technology or Manufacturing preferred)

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in powder metal manufacturing operations (powder metal compacting preferred)
  • A working knowledge of 550 ton compacting presses preferred
