SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
NextDecade is seeking a full-time Process Engineering Manager to support long-term operations for the Rio Grande LNG facility located near Brownsville, Texas. The incumbent will report to the Process Engineering Sr. Manager in the Operations Engineering Department, under the leadership of the Director of Engineering. Peer level personnel across the engineering team will include Operations and Maintenance Teams. The Process Engineering Manager will supervise and mentor a team of four (4) or more Senior Process Engineers and Process and Control Engineers. The position is based in Brownsville, TX.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead Process Engineering teams to support daily plant operations and optimize performance.
  • Oversee Advanced Process Control implementation and dynamic process modeling.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
  • Monitor process parameters and trends to detect and address abnormalities.
  • Utilize data analysis tools to predict and prevent equipment failures.
  • Lead root cause analyses (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage process simulations, heat/material balances, and plant debottlenecking studies.
  • Oversee process design efforts, including feasibility studies, cost estimates, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure seamless integration of new technologies and process upgrades.
  • Interface with vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies on technical matters.
  • Track key process indicators (KPIs) for plant operations and control systems.
  • Champion safety reviews (PHA/HAZOP/LOPA) for design and operational modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards.
  • Provide process engineering support across Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, and other teams.
  • Establish process engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Oversee specifications and procurement for process consumables.
  • Manage team development, training, and technical proficiency.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
  • 15+ years in process engineering management; 10+ years in LNG plant design/operations.
  • Expertise in HYSYS and dynamic simulation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of US LNG facility codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience with APCI C3MR technology, acid gas removal, dehydration, and refrigerant systems.
  • Extensive LNG storage and loading systems expertise.
  • Proven problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Experience with process equipment selection, sizing, and internals design.
  • Strong background in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC).
  • Expertise in risk assessments (HAZID, PHA, HAZOP, LOPA).
  • Demonstrated leadership in safety, environmental compliance, and assurance processes.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Additional expertise in regulatory and advanced process controls.
  • Familiarity with LNG lab equipment, sample collection, and analysis techniques.
  • Experience maintaining ISO 9001 certification.
  • Proficiency in rate-based simulations.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

* Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.

* Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
* Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.

* Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.

* Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
* May be required to enter confined spaces.
* May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
