The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

Electronic Program Division's Directorate V is looking for a Space Vehicle Engineering Lead (Senior Project Leader-Acquisition and Systems Engineering) to lead Aerospace support to a high priority National Security Space System program. In this position you will coordinate Aerospace activities across multiple technical areas to support the development, manufacturing, integration, test, and evaluation of end-to-end system performance.

Work Model

This full-time position requires 100% onsite work in Chantilly, VA.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Apply Aerospace leadership and responsibility for successful development and execution of an integrated space system, including multi-segment testing, on-orbit performance, and systems engineering processes.
  • Lead coordination of matrixed, cross-program Aerospace support to develop joint recommendations with program stakeholders and deliver impactful Aerospace products that advise government customers on system risks and opportunities.
  • Act as a spokesperson, advising the customer in formulating, evaluating, and overseeing development, verification and closure of system requirements.
  • Act as a senior mentor to team members, providing guidance to staff in both technical duties and program office responsibilities.
  • Independently assess and identify risks during system development, integration and test activities and lead Aerospace subject matter experts to deliver recommendations to the customer.
  • Support launch operations, mission management, and mission processing activities.
  • Cooperate and communicate frequently with SETA, mid-level and senior government officials to coordinate and report progress, issues, and results.

What You Need to be Successful:

Minimum Requirements for the Senior Project Leader - Acquisition and Systems Engineering:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or another technical discipline
  • 10 or more years of progressively more responsible experience
  • Experience coordinating and leading matrixed technical teams across multiple disciplines
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team comprised of government, SETA, and Aerospace personnel
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with contractor personnel
  • Willingness to travel to Aerospace and CONUS contractor facilities approximately once per month
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in engineering, science, or mathematics
  • Experience with satellite or other complex system acquisitions
  • Experience providing direct engineering support to the development of space system, or similarly complex, hardware
  • Experience with space system mission assurance and standards tailoring
