We are looking for an Assistant Controller to assist the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) in overseeing all financial activities, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the organization's reporting requirements as a publicly traded company. As a Trex Assistant Controller you'll work closely with senior leadership to ensure the company's financial operations are in line with U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules and regulations. This role involves managing the general ledger, financial reporting, audits, tax filings, and internal controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage and develop accounting team, providing coaching, guidance and support.


Financial Services



  • Responsible for overseeing daily transactional activity including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, T&E reimbursements, and cash transactions.
  • Collaborate with organization to identify and resolve challenges affecting accounting operations and integrity of financial information.


General Accounting



  • Coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. GAAP, including the preparation and review of journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activities. Perform detailed variance analysis and provide explanations of financial performance.
  • Assess and develop critical assumptions used in the accounting for areas of significant judgement including warranty, sales programs, income taxes, etc. and other material accounts such as fixed assets and leases.
  • Research, analyze and resolve accounting issues and interpret Financial Accounting Standards Board standards to ensure transactions comply with GAAP reporting and disclosure requirements. Draft technical audit memos as needed.


  • Develop and maintain department SOPs and accounting policy manuals.


Systems, Internal Processes & Controls



  • Develop a mastery of company systems including the ERP, OneStream, AuditBoard, Salesforce, etc., troubleshooting issues that arise and identifying opportunities to automate and leverage the systems to drive efficiencies.
  • Responsible for oversight of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance activities including documentation of company controls and maintenance of control matrix. Work with auditors and organization to Identify and address control gaps and deficiencies to ensure SOX compliance.
  • Partner with IT and other departments to improve and automate company processes and ensure effective internal controls across the company.


Tax



  • Accounting for Income Taxes - oversee the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions.
  • Compliance & Audits - oversee preparation of annual federal and state income tax returns, and periodic sales and use filings, property and excise tax returns; and management of related audits as they arise.


Audit Management



  • Assist in the coordination and management of external and internal financial and control audits. Ensure audit readiness and provide requested documentation. Consult with external auditors to facilitate quarterly reviews and the annual audit process.


Financial Reporting



  • Support the preparation and filing of SEC reports, including 10-Qs, 10-Ks, and 8-Ks, ensuring compliance with SEC requirements.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of monthly financial reports.



EXPERIENCE



  • Education / Certification: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a publicly traded company or in a similar role at a public accounting firm.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and (SOX) compliance.



Base Salary Range $130,000-$170,000 annually

The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.
