Job Purpose

The 3rd Shift - RSA (Shift Responsible Associate) is responsible for managing and coordinating all 3rd shift operations to ensure safety, quality and delivery targets are achieved. Timely delivery of quality products enables NCM and other Honda factories to produce quality products for our customers.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage and coordinate all 3rd shift functions and operations within the plant including Production, Materials Services and Quality.
  • Review and evaluate production results by shift. Identify areas of improvement, determine root cause of issues, and establish plan for improvement and implement.
  • Manage manpower concerns between production lines to ensure all lines have enough staff to build the product safely and with high quality.
  • Communicate daily/monthly production strategy with support groups to ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Effectively communicate upstream and downstream to all functional areas such as production, material service and product quality groups.
  • Analyze situations quickly to make decisions on complex situations that impact aspects of Safety, Quality, and/or Delivery of product to the customer.
  • Confirm all areas are complying to 5S/COP and safety standards of NCM.
  • Creates strategies to reduce or eliminate loss.
  • Support projects and New Model activity.
  • Ensure daily reporting is completed timely and accurately, including completion of Trouble Reports and any quality reports as needed.
  • Assume leadership role during any plant emergency situations such as evacuation and take shelter incidents.
  • Evaluate monthly KPI's and report results to management team.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field, or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years manufacturing related experience
  • Managerial skills leading a large group of associates
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing concepts
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills

Working Conditions

  • Majority of time is in office environment, but presence in the production area on a daily basis is expected
  • ~10 hours overtime per week is possible
  • Occasional weekend work
  • Travel as required, typically less than 5%
