Job Purpose:
Honda Development & Manufacturing of America (HDMA) Regional Packaging Tech Leader is responsible to establish and lead large and complex regional packaging projects considering areas of strategic data elements and key business initiatives and opportunities. They drive direction and act as a resource for the team providing critical technical expertise in areas of responsibility, sharing knowledge and developing the capabilities of colleagues through training, mentoring, sharing of expertise and direction.
In addition, the Packaging Technical Leader will lead regional meetings to review, discuss and track issues that have impact to mass production operations across all HDMA facilities through to resolution. They will be responsible to make judgements and decisions to align department responsibility and ensure corrective countermeasures are in place to prevent future occurrences. This includes investment & expense budget setting and execution to support fleet quantity discrepancies and rack modifications along with any GAP analysis. Supports future technology initiatives for BEV and Series Planning implementation for HDMA standardization and OWBW practice.
Key Accountabilities:
- Initiate and Develop relationships with key business partners outside core department; link critical stakeholders and team members; present and share team initiatives; negotiate and support team to break down barriers.
- Technical Packaging PIC with strategic business decision making responsibilities; Build project plan around critical milestones and deliverables; Develops KPI targets and expectations; Organize resources needed to support execution of plan; report cost savings and gaps.
- Embrace and apply sound innovation while applying technical expertise to support business operations that impact decisions for both RO and LO teams.
- Develops Packaging audit tracking and use data to proactively address design, modification, and safety related concerns.
- Clearly communicates and conveys technical information appropriately within multiple layers of Honda: Unit, Department, Division, MMCs.
- Understand and influence business plan; build and execute vision strategies and design and develop tools & resources that supports business goals
- Evaluate & share technical innovation within areas of expertise with project leaders and management group.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Field or equivalent relevant experience
- 8+ years relevant experience
- Negotiation and collaboration. Understanding Technical Drawings. Extensive knowledge of packaging materials, processes, equipment and ergo safety. Cross functional communication and collaboration.
Working Conditions:
- Office/Hybrid WFH environment, periods of local and regional travel, average 5-10 hours overtime a week
- Work in a fast-paced environment with demanding and critical deadlines
- Travel is required and varies based on project schedules
- International travel may occur (CAN, MX)
