Description
The Ophthalmic Technician provides patient care in both clinic and procedural settings. This is a full-time position working Monday - Thursday from 7:30 am - 5:00 pm and Friday from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm, primarily out of our Edina clinic. This role will involve traveling at least 1 day per week to an off-site clinic in Coon Rapids or Blaine. Minnesota Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Specialists is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices, owned and led by its physicians, on a mission to give patients more control over their healthcare.
Essential Functions:
- Prepares and maintains patient exam rooms
- Room patients and obtain patient intake information
- Conducts examination, including visual fields and digital imaging
- Order labs, CT, and MRI when necessary
- Assist in patient procedures taking place in both clinical and surgical setting
- Accompanies Surgeon to satellite locations when needed
- Instruct patients on medications, tests, and procedures
- Coordinating patient scheduling
- Follow up with patients regarding medical questions and patient education.
- Complete all patient forms such as disability and return to work forms.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Ophthalmic Certification or graduation from an accredited Ophthalmic Technician program preferred
- 3+ years of clinical ophthalmologic experience required

- Work in the clinic, office or surgery center during business hours
- Travel independently throughout the clinic, office or surgery center (which may include movement from floor to floor); frequent bending, lifting, standing, stooping or sitting for long periods of time may be required
- Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately and meet deadlines
- Communicate and interact in a respectful and professional manner
- Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Understand and execute a variety of instructions
- Effectively operate equipment and communicate on and operate the phone system
- Work independently with minimal supervision
- Travel to other work locations, if required
